Too Late She Already Married Mr. Right (Sophia) novel Chapter 140

Sophia had only taken a few steps before Lucas caught up and seized her arm, holding her tight.

Come with me,” he said.

Sophia struggled a few times, but his grip was too strong. She winced and glared at him. Let go of me,she snapped.

Everyone’s here. If you don’t come say hello with me, it’ll look bad,Lucas insisted as he pulled her forward.

Today, he wasn’t going to let Sophia out of his sight, no matter what.

Sophia was practically being dragged along, her dress tangling under her feet with every step. She nearly tripped more than once, her anger boiling over.

Sophia snapped, Lucas, how does someone like you even deserve a wife?

On the surface, Lucas used to wrap himself in the mask of a refined gentleman, all charm and grace.

But now, with her, his real nature was exposedjust a beast.

Lucas shot back, Sophia, even after three years, I still remember how you couldn’t wait to say yes when I asked you to marry me.

What, didn’t you love me? Just three years and you’re over it? Guess your love was pretty cheap all along.”

Sophia looked at him with disgust. She said, My biggest regret in life is ever thinking you were right for me.

A flicker of pain crossed Lucas’s eyes, but he just squeezed her arm harder. Sophia cried out, Let go, Lucas! Don’t push me, or I’ll slap you right here in front of everyone.

Lucas yanked her in front of him, staring down from above. He said, Sophia, you should be grateful you still have some use to me.”

Sophia shoved him away and stormed off.

Lucas glared at her retreating, practically itching to drag her over and give her a real beating.

But then what?

She’d still look at him with that same hatred, and he just couldn’t stand it.

Sophia didn’t go anywhere near Helen, choosing to avoid any awkward runins. Instead, she picked the best spot to watch the drama unfold, grabbed a plate of fruit pastries and a drink, and settled.in, ready to spectate.

Helen had really tried to impress todayshe’d hired a stylist for flawless hair and makeup, and her dress was classy, every detail showing off her wealth.

But even with all that effort, there was no hiding just how drained and weary she looked.

Thinking back to all the times Helen had humiliated her after Emily’s return, Sophia felt absolutely no pity.

It was only when the knife cut into one’s own flesh that one finally knew what pain felt like.

Across the room, Helen drew attention in a dark green dress, an elegant strand of pearls around her neck- her whole vibe screamed money and class.

Billy stood beside her, barely able to hide how seeing her in all that green made his eye twitch in secondhand

embarrassment.

Seriously? With all the dresses you own, you had to go with the green one?he grumbled.

Helen sneered, This dress matches my relationship status: officially greenlit, and not in the good way.

Billy snapped, Can you quit with the weird digs? We’ve got all these guests here. If you want to embarrass yourself, at least don’t drag me down with you.

Helen looked around at the barren party hall and said, You went all out for this party, but do you see how many families even bothered to come?

Billy, the Westwood family is running out of luck. Are you really still blind to what’s going on?

Billy could see for himselfbarely a third of the invitees had shown up. It was obvious that the Westwood family’s standing in Jelasburg was nothing like before.

Still, a part of him stubbornly held onto hope.

He said, People are still arriving, Helen. We’re in this together as husband and wife. I know you’re still angry, but don’t say things like that. If the Westwood family goes under, it wouldn’t help you, either.”

Helen clenched her jaw.

They’d been married for thirty years, sticking together through thick and thin, through both poverty and riches.

She’d always believed they’d stay devoted to each other till the end, but Billy had already been unfaithful to her, long before she ever noticed.

Linda was living proof of his infidelity.

His socalled love for her was nothing more than a joke. She wanted outdivorce was on her mindbut there was no way she’d let Billy walk off with their fortune so easily.
