Chapter 204
Annabelle felt a chill run through her. ‘Sophie’s really been hurt by the Westwood family. Is she just done with marriage now?
‘And what about Uncle Richard?‘ Annabelle couldn’t help but worry.
But then again, Sophie was her bestie. Her happiness came first, period. If getting male escorts would do the trick, then so be it.
“Alright, alright, go get male escorts if that makes you happy.” Annabelle laughed.
Sophia pulled out the official divorce certificate from the courthouse and sent Annabelle a snapshot of the signed divorce agreement.
Seven years ago, Annabelle had helped Sophia set up a social media account, and over the years, Sophia would drop her research tips and insights there every now and then.
After Sophia started working at Yadel Group, if she came across any interesting ideas, she’d send them over to Annabelle to post on her behalf.
Because of this, Sophia had a bunch of devoted fans.
As soon as Sophia uploaded her divorce receipt, tons of her loyal followers saw the update pop up.
When they opened the post, the first thing they saw was Sophia’s divorce receipt right there.
Her fans were buzzing with surprise.
“Wait, I only learned you were ever married because of your divorce receipt. That’s wild!”
“Sophia, you’re excellent.”
“Sophia, you can shine alone.”
The comments kept pouring in, and in no time, there were over a hundred, all cheering Sophia on and telling her to keep her head up.
Annabelle held her phone, chatting with Sophia.
“See? Fans who love science are always the smart, chill ones,” Annabelle said with a grin.
Sophia scrolled through all the encouraging comments, and honestly, she didn’t feel so down anymore.
“Wait, Sophia’s ex–husband is Lucas from the Westwood family? That name sounds so familiar. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen it somewhere before,” one fan commented.
“Yeah, I feel like that name definitely rings a bell,” another chimed in.
“Isn’t he the heir to Yadel Group? Heard he’s a total player and barely even cares about his wife,” somebody
else added.
“Wow, Sophia’s ex is such a scumbag. No wonder she kicked him to the curb,” another fan wrote.
“I’m really starting to wonder who Sophia really is. If she could marry into the Westwood family, it meant that she came from a pretty good family herself, right?” someone else commented.
Seeing everyone’s attention drifting, Sophia quickly made a call, instructing her online supporters to steer public opinion in the intended direction.
“Aren’t we gonna strike now?” Annabelle asked.
Sophia shook her head. “Let’s just wait and see how Yadel Group handles the situation.”
She had a gut feeling–with Billy being as ruthless as he was, there’s no way he’d let it slide after she played him for a fool.
She was counting on them to retaliate.
At Yadel Group, Billy had assembled a crisis PR team, one specializing in handling scandals for celebrities.
Once everyone was settled, they started tossing around ideas to fix up Yadel Group’s reputation.
But every plan they’d tried so far just hadn’t changed how the public saw the company.
“Mr. Westwood, in my opinion, the public attention around the regenerating cream is fading. If we just keep quiet, it’ll slip out of the customers‘ minds soon enough,” one PR team member suggested.
“If we launch a damage control campaign now, there’s a real risk of reigniting the controversy and causing even more trouble for the company. That could hit us hard,” another chimed in.
The key to managing a PR crisis is speed.
Missing that golden window to prove their innocence made it nearly impossible to reclaim their reputation
later.
Now that the hype had settled, there was really no reason to stir things up again.
Billy braced his hands on his knees, his tone grim. “We spent three years developing that new product. The investment in manpower, resources, and capital was enormous. If we can’t fix the company’s image, the regenerating cream will forever be a stain on our record.
