Too Late She Already Married Mr. Right (Sophia) novel Chapter 259

The cheers coming from next door just wouldn't stop, making Lucas feel like a complete loser by comparison.

He'd been restless and irritable all afternoon.

Every time his fishing rod so much as twitched, Lucas would snatch it up, only for the fish to steal his bait and slip away before he could even react.

He'd spent the entire afternoon fussing around, burned through most of his bait, and embarrassingly still hadn't managed to catch a single fish.

Emily sat next to Lucas, but the gloomy cloud hanging over him was so intense that she didn't even dare to start a conversation.

As the evening settled in, Emily zoned out, just staring into the empty bucket. She asked, "Lucas, what are we actually eating for dinner tonight?"

They were supposed to have grilled fish tonight, but at this rate, they hadn't even fished up a single blade of grass.

Lucas tossed his fishing rod aside in frustration. He snapped, "Eat, eat, eat! Is food all you care about now? What are you, turning into a pig or something?"

Emily had never heard Lucas speak to her so harshly before. She stared at him in total disbelief.

"Lucas, I know I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, but why are you insulting me?" she said, her voice trembling.

Lucas grew even more frustrated. He said, "Don't like how I talk?

Then get lost! Seriously, are you my jinx or something? Ever since you came back, nothing's gone right for me."

Back when Emily was gone for those three years, everything in his life was smooth sailing, and his company was booming

Emily could hear the accusation in his voice, her eyes instantly welling up. "So now you're blaming me for everything?" she asked softly.

"Who else am I supposed to blame?" Lucas shot back, anger flaring even more as the words spilled out.

Before Emily came back, Sophia was crushing it at work-the business was booming thanks to her.

At home, Sophia always made sure Lucas had a hot, homemade meal to come back to, no matter how late he returned.

But ever since Emily showed up again, everything just fell apart.

The company lost billions last month, its reputation tanked, and the stock price was still deep in the red.

Forget about the major stuff, let's just look at the small things.

Sophia and Richard spent the whole afternoon reeling in catch after catch, whereas Lucas and Emily didn't land even one fish.

It was obvious who was the lucky one and who was the jinx.

Emily was so mad she nearly saw stars-she had never been treated like this before.

"Lucas, you're seriously crossing the line!" Emily burst out.

Lucas shot to his feet and hurled his fishing rod to the ground. He said, "I never should've agreed to come fishing with you. What a complete waste of time."

With that, he stormed off without looking back.
