Sophia walked into the room with breakfast in hand and asked the robot to pull back the curtains.
She sat down at the table, zoning out while staring at her breakfast.
Annabelle tossed and turned in bed a few times, but couldn't sleep, so she finally gave up and plopped down beside Sophia.
"What's wrong?" Annabelle asked softly.
Last night, Sophia was still stressing about how she'd deal with Richard today.
But turns out, he was smart-flew abroad right away. so she didn't have to worry about him at all.
"Not really. Richard had Harley bring breakfast from that viral spot. We're way too lazy to get up and wait in those crazy lines, so finally, someone did it for us." Sophia said.
Annabelle heard her sounding a bit salty and smirked
"Then what are you mad about?"
"I'm not mad," Sophia replied
Annabelle reached over and pinched her cheek. "With a pout like that, you seriously expect me to believe you're not mad?"
Sophia swatted her hand away. "I'm gonna go freshen up."
As Sophia headed to the bathroom, Annabelle trailed after her, grinning nonstop while Sophia washed up, clearly dying to say something but holding it in.
Sophia laughed and scolded, "Why the hell are you giggling? If you've got something to say, just say it. If you've got something to let out, just do it."
"Oh wow, look at you—swearing like a sailor now?" Annabelle teased, eyes full of mischief
Sophia rinsed her toothbrush, put it away, then turned on the faucet, scooped up a handful of water, and splashed it right at Annabelle.
Annabelle shrieked and dodged. "Hey! That's cheating!"
"Let's see if you still wanna tease me now!" Sophia splashed her a few more times, and the two of them started messing around.
Annabelle ducked and muttered through giggles, "Cut it out! I'll get you back for this, seriously, I will!"
"Bring it on, then." Sophia shot back.
Seeing Sophia looking all victorious and acting like. she owned the place, Annabelle didn't hold back— risking a full-on soak, she rushed over and flipped on the showerhead, blasting Sophia straight away.
Sophia's clothes got drenched almost instantly, water running down her face.
She wiped the water from her face, pointed at Annabelle, and said, "Oh, you wanna go all out now, huh?"
Annabelle grinned wickedly. "What, don't tell me you're scared!"
Sophia, still under the spray, lunged over to the bathtub, grabbed the handheld showerhead, and before long, the two of them ended up in an all-out water fight-spraying each other and laughing like maniacs.
Half an hour later, they stumbled out of the bathroom, totally wiped out, and collapsed onto the couch.
"Man, I haven't gone wild like that with a water fight in forever. That was insane—I'm officially dead," Annabelle groaned, sprawled out and refusing to move.
Sophia was exhausted too, but her stomach was even louder.
She dragged herself up. "Let's eat. I'm starving.
Should've known better than to try and win against you."
*Oh, please, like I wanted to keep going! I called a truce, but you just wouldn't quit." Annabelle shot bacck.
But after all that, Sophia actually seemed to be in a much better mood.
After they finished breakfast, Sophia's phone started ringing
She glanced at the caller ID—it was Micah.
She picked up, and Micah's deep voice came through.
"Dr. Evans, I heard you're out of town on business?"
Micah had been swamped with family drama lately and had only just managed to find a moment to reach out to Sophia.
"Yeah, I had to come to Haisburg for something urgent. Mr. Nelson, what can I do for you?" Sophia asked, her fingers tapping lightly on the table.
Honestly, she already had a pretty good idea why Micah was calling
They'd been negotiating the licensing rights for the formula for skin regeneration, but some details were still up in the air, so the contract hadn't been signed yet.
Micah made some small talk, then got straight to the point.
"So, about the contract details we discussed before, I've had my secretary draft a new version. I was wondering when you'll be back in Jelasburg—we can meet up and go over everything in person," he said.
Micah knew the whole beauty industry was hungry for the formula for skin regeneration— everyone was just waiting to pounce.
If he didn't make the first move to lock in this deal, hed end up missing his shot.
