Chapter 72
Noticing how totally uninterested Sophia was in Richard, Annabelle knew it was not the right time to talk about it.
She said, “Forget about it. Let’s talk about something you actually care about.”
Sophia was half–lying on the bed, looking miserable. Annabelle gently helped her sit up and leaned her against some soft pillows.
Eyes sparkling, Annabelle blurted out, “Listen, Emily’s basically managed to almost bankrupt Yadel Group all by herself.”
Sophia just shook her head, unimpressed. “It’s not that easy. No matter how much chaos she causes, it’s just minor damage. There’s no way she’s taking down the core of Yadel Group.”
Yadel Group’s stellar reputation had been built up over decades–not even a few livestream scandals could really put a dent
in that.
Annabelle said, “I know it’s not easy, but I just want to lift your spirits. Oh, and guess what–Dr. Lynn has officially joined Pioneer Institute. I’ve asked her to keep pushing forward on the regenerating tech.”
Annabelle thought, ‘That day, Sophie told me the plan was for Pioneer Institute to develop the regenerating technology before Yadel Group and lock down the patent for the formula.
‘If Pioneer Institute secured the patent, Yadel Group wouldn’t be able to launch their regenerating cream without getting the green light from us.
‘Sophie’s strategy is to grab Yadel Group right by the lifeline. But since her injuries keep her from showing up at Pioneer Institute, the experiments still haven’t made much headway.
‘Now it all comes down to who gets the breakthrough first–Pioneer Institute or Yadel Group’s R&D Department. Whoever snags that formula for skin regeneration wins it all.
Sophia said, “Dr. Lynn’s whole academic focus was on regenerating technology. Her skills are top–notch. Give her a little more time, and she’ll make the breakthrough.”
Annabelle sighed. “Right now, every minute counts. If you weren’t injured and could run the lab yourself, we’d definitely beat Yadel Group’s R&D Department to the formula for skin regeneration.”
Sophia understood just how formidable Yadel Group’s R&D Department was. If Lucas hadn’t fired Linda, Pioneer Institute really wouldn’t have had a shot at all.
“Whether we win or lose, it’s destined. Hang in there, Annabelle. Don’t stress,” Sophia said, not wanting to make things more
anxious.
Her wounds had been tended to, probably with some kind of herbal balm. The skin wasn’t broken, but those blotchy purple bruises were so vivid that they sent a chill down her spine.
She was just about to drop her pajamas back down when a sudden knock came at the door.
A deep, charming voice rang out from outside. “Ms. Evans?”
Sophia flinched, hurriedly letting her pajamas fall. She moved too quickly, and the motion jolted her injuries, making her let out a muffled groan of pain.
The next second, the door was pushed open from the outside, and a tall man appeared at the entrance.
His sharp suit made him look even more refined and imposing. Under the bright bathroom lights, his chiseled face stood out–every angle radiating a kind of noble, untouchable aura.
Sophia tugged the corners of her lips into a strained, almost pitiful smile. “I’m okay, Mr. Sterling,” she said.
