Too Pretty to Be Your Backup novel Chapter 109

Leila couldn’t keep it together. The moment she saw Amanda’s video, her heart squeezed painfully—right there on her phone screen, that diamond ring sparkled so bright it almost hurt her eyes.

“Ugh!” she screamed, and with one wild swipe, she sent everything on her nightstand crashing to the floor. The sharp clatter echoed around the room, matching the storm on her face. Her usually pretty features were twisted with rage.

Marcus had just finished up with a patient and happened to be passing by. The noise from Leila’s room stopped him in his tracks. He knocked, then pushed the door open, only to be greeted by total chaos—and Leila, looking completely unhinged.

He frowned, clear annoyance written all over his face. “Leila, this is a hospital, not your personal playground. Keep it down and try acting like a decent human being for once.”

Marcus wasn’t David—he didn’t have infinite patience for Leila’s drama. He wasn’t Travis, either; he wasn’t about to bend over backwards every time she wanted something. If he was being honest, he didn’t even like her as a regular friend. Who in their right mind would like a homewrecker?

Yeah, that’s exactly what Leila was to him—a shameless homewrecker. Everybody knew Travis and Amanda were together. Amanda was Travis' fiancée. If Leila had even a shred of decency, she would have kept her distance. Instead, she always picked the worst times to act out—messing things up at their engagement parties, of all things. It was just pathetic.

Sure, some of the blame landed on Travis for letting it slide, but what really got under Marcus’ skin was Leila’s attitude—like she was entitled to everything. Did she even realize her “special status” only existed because of her brother? She never seemed the least bit guilty when she was causing trouble. If anything, she’d destroyed whatever good memory was left of her brother.

As a doctor, Marcus hated her even more. She bossed around the staff, nitpicked every little thing, and when she wasn’t smashing stuff, she was making life miserable for the nurses. Patients like her were every doctor’s nightmare.
