Too Pretty to Be Your Backup novel Chapter 110

Leila went ghostly pale, her small shoulders shaking so hard it looked like she might break. The shock sucked every bit of color from her face.

She’d always heard the Hill family had an heirloom diamond—True Love. Travis' grandmother was the last person to wear it. Travis' own mother had never been worthy of it.

But now, Travis had given True Love to Amanda. Just like that.

Did this mean Travis really accepted Amanda?

No way.

Leila couldn’t believe it. Nothing about the way Travis acted suggested he truly cared about Amanda.

Her eyes were red-rimmed, her face twisted, teetering on the edge of losing it. “No! Travis wouldn’t give her True Love. He’s just feeling guilty. He’s only doing this because he feels bad about what happened. He’s just trying to make it up to Amanda!”

Marcus lifted an eyebrow, arms crossed. “Leila, your brother died for Travis. Travis has always felt guilty about that.

“You’ve felt it all these years, haven’t you? What other reason would you have to stay in his life?

“His guilt for you runs deeper and has lasted longer than it ever did for Amanda. So why didn’t he give you True Love?”

Marcus let out a cold laugh. “He just didn’t want to. You don’t deserve that.”

Leila had hung on to Travis for years. And sure, he treated her well, spoiled her even. But that was it.

If he was ever going to make her his girlfriend, he’d have done it already.

The only reason he treated her differently was Jonah.

Without Jonah, Leila wouldn’t have even gotten close to Travis.

Leila looked lost, tears streaming down her cheeks. She kept shaking her head, desperate. “No… Travis likes me. I’m special to him.”

“Wake up,” Marcus shot back, not bothering to soften the blow. “Leila, you know what happened when Chad kidnapped you. The police have the video. Just that one thing means you’ll never marry Travis.”
