Chapter 106 Key to Sending Madeline to Prison
Beatrice quickly covered Violet's mouth with her hand.
It was almost as if she was dragging her off to silence her for good.
She shot Violet a look that clearly said, "If you say another stupid thing, I'll choke you out!"
I'm already in enough deep trouble!
Don't make this any more complicated!
I don't need this!
Violet couldn't help but laugh inwardly.
Looks like things got pretty "heated" in there.
If I'd known, I would've jumped in to stir the pot.
A part of her regretted missing the drama.
"Mm, mm..."
She nodded and made the "OK" gesture, signaling her promise to stay quiet.
Only then did Beatrice let go of her.
The other three stepped inside the elevator.
As it began its descent, Damian's expression had turned much colder than before.
Though he still looked the same on the surface, there was something about him that made him feel... suddenly distant, almost unreachable.
The air in the elevator grew heavy with the kind of pressure only someone like him could emit.
Once they stepped out of the building, Violet knew they'd been worried sick about her.
Touched by their concern, she insisted on taking them out for a late-night bite.
Damian waved her off and, motioning for Ethan to follow, started walking away.
"He's fuming," Violet murmured to Beatrice.
"I noticed! No need to remind me!
"He hasn't been himself ever since he returned from the resort. Whatever, just let him be!" She quickly changed the subject. "Didn't you say something about having a late-night snack? If he's not eating, then Scarlett and I will. Are you still treating?"
Violet eagerly agreed. "Of course!"
She drove Beatrice and Scarlett to a nearby restaurant.
The three of them chatted while eating, the atmosphere light and lively.
Scarlett hadn't had much interaction with Violet before, but after meeting her today, she quickly warmed to this girl.
Violet was straightforward, carefree, and witty, which made Scarlett like her even more.
Though Scarlett could be a bit dramatic herself, she liked people who were the opposite.
"Ms. Hudson, by the way, did you manage to get any evidence to accuse Madeline today?"
"Jane's too slippery."
Violet sneered, a hint of regret in her voice. "I thought I had laid the groundwork enough, and today, with my final strike, she'd definitely crack. But—ha, as soon as I asked the key question, she started dodging. It's so frustrating."
As she spoke, she took a couple of big swigs of beer.
"That's pretty normal," Scarlett said, unfazed, casually picking at some blanched vegetables. "Bad people get away with their actions because they always find ways to justify them. Those redemption arcs on TV? Complete nonsense. They never think they're at fault; they just believe the people they want gone deserve to disappear."
"Ms. Grant, you've really got the lowdown on human nature."
"Come on, just call me Scarlett! I'll call you Violet, deal?"
"You bet!"
Violet didn't miss a beat. She pulled out her business card. "Scarlett, if you ever run into any legal snags, just come to me. I'll give you a sweet 20% discount."
"Whoa there..." Scarlett did a double-take, then covered her mouth and burst into laughter.
She slipped the card into her pocket. "No sweat! Next time, I'll introduce you to some of my friends."
"Thanks!" Violet chirped.
After leaving the restaurant, Scarlett's driver was already waiting at the curb.
