At 1:53 p.m., the plane landed at the airport.

As Beatrice stepped off, she spotted a Bentley parked ahead.

She smiled at Damian and said, Mr. Crowley, you can go ahead. Don’t worry about me.

Damian cast her a fleeting look, said nothing, and walked away.

Killian quickly said, See you next time, before hurrying after him.

He opened the car door for Damian, then slid into the front passenger seat himself.

Inside the car, Gordon, sitting in the driver’s seat, glanced at the rearview mirror and watched the two people outside.

He looked slightly dazed. Why is Ms. Lawson in a wheelchair? Did her exhusband hurt her? Are we just leaving her like this? Will she be in danger?

Killian chuckled. Gordon, you’re overthinking it. Her injury has nothing to do with her exhusbandactually, they’re not even divorced yet; he’s not her ex. And they might be getting back together.

What? They’re reconciling?

She told us to go ahead and not wait for her, which means she wants to go home with Desmond. Are they making up?

But I saw her Facebook post earlier, and she looked pretty miserable.

What Facebook post?

Gordon pulled out his phone to show Killian.

Just as the two of them huddled together, staring at the screen, a cold, emotionless voice came from the backseat.

Drive.

The atmosphere instantly dropped several degrees.

Gordon and Killian quickly fell silent.

The car started, moving forward for a while before Damian spoke again in that same chilly tone. Raise the partition.

Gordon pressed the button, and soon, the backseat was completely sealed off into a private space.

Mr. Crowley is in a terrible mood

And now? The person in the best mood wasDesmond.

He guided Beatrice through the VIP exit at the airport, occasionally smoothing her hair or leaning down to whisper to

her.

Feeling her go along with it, his heart was practically bursting with joy.

That joy, however, shattered the instant he saw Madeline.

She stood by the crowded roadside, where cars came and went.

Her expression was pitiful, her body frail as if a gust of wind could blow her over.

But the most striking thing was the bloodstained bandage wrapped around her wrist.

Roland stood by a car, phone in hand. He had wanted to warn Desmond, but before he could send the message, they had already

come out.

Desmond’s face turned to ice.

DesmondMadeline rushed toward him.

Just as she was about to reach Beatrice, Desmond stepped forward and blocked her with his arm.

His face was cold. I had your brother pas

pass my message. If you still

don’t get it, let me make it clear. I want nothing to do with you. Stop bothering me!

Tears filled Madeline’s eyes as she stared at him.

Chapter 4 Will.

She hated Beatrice with a burning fury and wanted nothing more than to stab her to death.

But remembering Lillian’s advice, she forced herself to suppress her

rage.

I’m not here to bother you. I won’t get between you and Beatrice anymore. Let’s go back to how things were. I’ll just see you as a brother. How’s that sound?

Hearing this, Desmond’s expression softened slightly.

If you’ve thought it through, that’s good. Now, step aside. We’re leaving.

He didn’t care what tricks she was trying to play. As long as he could get rid of her peacefully, it was better than having her cause a public

scene.

Madeline sniffled pitifully, then suddenly dodged around Desmond and dropped to her knees in front of Beatrice with a loud thud, instantly drawing the attention of onlookers.

Desmond’s temples throbbed with rage. Madeline! What the hell are you doing now?!

Beatrice, however, remained composed. She waved a hand dismissively. “Let her speak.

Beatrice, please don’t blame Desmond anymore. This was all my fault. I was the one who clung to him. I’ll leave him. I won’t bother him anymore. Just don’t divorce him, I beg you.

As she spoke, tears streamed down her face, making her look utterly pitiful.

No one had expected her to appear here, let alone to plead on Desmond’s behalf.

Even Desmond was taken aback.

Did she really mean it? Had she finally come to her senses?

Yet, Beatrice sneered inwardly.

Retreat to advance?

Who taught her that? She’s not smart enough to come up with a strategy like this.

If you want to beg, at least do it properly. How about this? Slap yourself a hundred times. If you can make your face swell up, I might consider your request.

Desmond turned to Beatrice, stunned.

Madeline’s face twisted with fury, but soon, she felt a thrill of excitement.

Finally! Desmond will see your face. You such bith!

She bit her lip, shut her eyes as if marching to her death, and started slapping herself.

The sharp smack echoed loudly.

Beatrice tilted her chin. Too soft. Harder.

The watching crowd murmured in shock. Some even pulled out their phones to record.

Pathetic,Beatrice scoffed.

She grabbed Madeline’s face and sneered coldly. Let me show you how it’s done.

She raised her hand and slapped Madeline four times in rapid succession.

As she lifted her hand for a fifth strike, Desmond caught her wrist. Enough!

Enough?Beatrice raised a brow. She seduced you, wrecked our marriage, and even tried to set me up. Now I hit her a few times, and suddenly you feel bad for her? Oh, wait, can’t just punish her alone. You should kneel too.

Are you insane?

No? Then she can take it all herself.Beatrice turned to Madeline, smiling sweetly. Any objections?

Madeline shook her head. Still kneeling, she grabbed Beatrice’s other hand. Go ahead. It’s not Desmond’s fault. I’ll take the punishment for him.
