Trapped in the boss's embrace (by Katrina A) novel Chapter 52

Chapter 52 She’s Completely Lost It

Twitter?Beatrice asked as she pulled the phone away from her

car.

She then tapped on the app, and the first thing that popped up was several big influencers sharing the same video. It had even already shot to the top of the trending list.

The video captured the scene outside the airport yesterday

afternoon.

But it had clearly been edited with great care, turning it into a dramatic clip where the frail, innocent woman, Madeline, was ruthlessly slapped by the vicious and cruel shedevil, Beatrice, who was supposedly taking out her anger.

What was even more interesting?

Desmond, who had been right there in the moment, had been conveniently removed from the footage. The only thing left was Beatrice putting Madeline in her place.

But the real kicker?

The influencers weren’t condemning Beatrice, the socalled villain. Instead, all their scorn was aimed at poor, pitiful Madeline.

Not only had they exposed Madeline’s identity, but they were

also dragging her through the mud, mocking how she might’ve been born into wealth but had no shame whatsoever, chasing after a married man and tearing apart his family.

As far as they were concerned, the slap was wellearned. She brought it on herself.

Anyone who had felt even the slightest bit sorry for Madeline after watching the video immediately dropped any trace of sympathy the second they learned the truth.

The comment section was 90% in support of Beatrice.

Some were laughing, saying she hadn’t hit hard enough. Others were fired up, insisting cheaters deserved to be stripped down and paraded in the streets. Then, people started digging deeper into Madeline’s background, dragging the entire Fairfax family into the mess with her.

Beatrice noticed that the first person to post the video

had done so anonymously, dropping it online yesterday evening. The big influencers, however, didn’t start sharing it until after 2 a.m.

Scarlett was practically buzzing with curiosity. Was this you?

Beatrice chuckled, Do you think it was me?

I just can’t figure out who else it could be. It feels like something you’d do, but also doesn’t? But honestly, who else would know how to steer public opinion this perfectly?

Maybe it was just some random person who hates

homewreckers. That’d make sense, wouldn’t it?

Oh, come on. You think some random bystander would go through all this troublespend actual money to get big influencers to push it?

Beatrice shrugged. Honestly? It doesn’t really matter who did it. The outcome is what’s important.

The outcome?Scarlett’s interest only grew, stirred by the weight of her words. Don’t tell me it was someone who has a thing for you, like, say, Damian?

Beatrice couldn’t hold back a laugh. Oh, sweetheart. I can’t say much about anything else, but I can tell you for sure that it wasn’t me, and it definitely wasn’t Damian.

She then didn’t elaborate any further.

After hanging up, she immediately called Violet and told her about the Twitter situation.

Violet had spent last night at home, keeping her mom company after her mom threw out her back trying to do a trendy dance

workout.

She had just woken up and, after checking Twitter and piecing things together with what she already knew, said, Could it be Autumn? She deliberately erased Desmond’s name. Clearly, she didn’t want him to get dragged into this.

Autumn? Nah. She’d rather bury this whole mess six feet under

than dig it back up herself.Beatrice didn’t buy it.

Violet hesitated. Yeah, you’re right. Then who did it?

My guess isMadeline herself,Beatrice replied.

Violet shot that down immediately. No way. She’s tho

biggest victim in this mess. Her reputation is in shambles, and everyone’s dragging her through the mud. What, is she some kind of masochist?

Then, suddenly, something clicked in her mind. Waitif she really did post that, then she’s completely lost it. Like, fullblown, needstobelockedup crazy.

Destroying herself and dragging the entire Fairfax family down with her, just so she could act like a victim in front of Desmond? How does that make any sense?

With that in mind, Beatrice exhaled. Let’s just wait and see how this plays out. As for my parents, now that the video is out, it’s only a matter of time before they see it.

They don’t know I got hurt, and if they put two and two together, they might start overthinking. Can you help explain things to them? Let them know I’ll be back in a few days.

Don’t worry,Violet reassured her. I already told them before this. They actually took it pretty well.

Beatrice sighed, I should’ve just told them myself from the

She had wanted to spare them the worry and kept thinking she’d tell them later. But in the end, they had found out in the worst way possiblethrough sheer shock. That was on her.

It’s already done, so don’t dwell on it,Violet comforted. Right now, the most important thing is the divorce. I was thinking of going to talk to Desmond again today.

Then, Beatrice suddenly dropped the bomb out of nowhere. He moved upstairs.

Violet was momentarily speechless before she practically yelled, What? No, hold on. He left you at the airport yesterday. He made his choice. He picked Madeline, right?

If that’s the case, then he should be signing those divorce papers like right away. What the hell is he doing running back and forth between you two like this?

Beatrice scoffed, Hell if I know. At this point, I just hope he and Madeline stay glued together for life, As long as they don’t drag me into their mess again.

But when she thought about that Twitter post, an uneasy feeling settled in her chest.

It wouldn’t be long before Madeline and the Fairfax family came looking for trouble. That was bound to happen anyway. Their feud was pretty much carved in stone at the charity gala.

Meanwhile, Desmond, who had been dead drunk the night before, was woken up by a call from the Fairfax family.

They told him that because of the Twitter incident, Madeline had been so humiliated that she couldn’t take it anymore. She had slit her wrists at home.

Then they ordered him to come over immediately.

He was stunned by the news. On the way there, he checked Twitter, and the more he read, the more complicated his emotions became.

Things weren’t easy for Autumn over at Belmont Manor, either.

Her phone was blowing up nonstop. She stared at the two women in the video, wishing she could make them both disappear.

Desmond’s father, William Belmont, had rushed back from Astraea right after the charity gala. Because of his health, he had spent most of his time there receiving treatment.

When he found out Desmond had been cheating, that Beatrice. had left the company, and that the gala had turned into a public disgrace, William was so furious he nearly had a stroke.

Over the years, William had seen firsthand what Beatrice had done for the company.
