She understood exactly what Desmond intended from the way he spoke and the look in his eyes. Panic surged through her as she shrank away from his breath.
“Don’t you dare!”
Desmond caught her shoulder with one hand and pulled her toward him. “Why? Even the cops don’t interfere when a husband and wife do what they’re supposed to.”
“But I don’t want to! If you force me, that’s rape!” Beatrice shouted as she shoved against him, but his strength was overwhelming. She had no chance of pushing him away.
Desmond’s hand slid downward, his arm coiling around her waist, pulling her tighter against him inch by inch.
As their breaths mingled, Beatrice turned her head away. “Desmond, you bastard!”
Desmond leaned in, his voice a rough whisper against her ear, every word scraping over her skin like sandpaper.
“You’ve always been so focused on work, didn’t want kids too soon, and always look precautions. Tonight, let’s not, hm? Maybe next month, you’ll have a surprise.”

His words sent a chill down her spine, her fear hitting her like a tidal wave. She thrashed violently, struggling with everything she had.
“Let go of me! Let me go!” she screamed.
Desmond ignored her resistance and kissed from the shell of her ear down to her cheek, murmuring, “How about we make a deal? If you don’t get pregnant tonight, I’ll let you go. If you do, you’re coming home with me.”
Beatrice was absolutely enraged by his shameless, outrageous words.
She spat at him, her fury boiling over. “Go to hell!!! Who do you think you are to gamble with my life?”
At this moment, any sense of composure or proper upbringing she had was completely gone.
“You won’t be saying that once you have my baby.” Desmond flicked his cigarette out the window, then reached over and pushed her seat back, leaning down toward her.
“Get off me! Let me go, you asshole!” Beatrice pounded her fists. against his chest, fighting back with everything she had.
Her smooth, delicate hands were no match for Desmond’s broad, muscular frame. Even as she put all her strength into

Beatrice’s arm bent awkwardly under his weight as he closed in on her. The embrace that had once made her feel so safe now felt like a prison she couldn’t break free from.
She was terrified. Truly, utterly terrified.
Her fingers trembled against Desmond’s chest as her eyes burned with unshed tears. “Please stop… I don’t want to do this in the car. Desmond, please… I’m begging you, don’t do this to
me.”
As he looked at Beatrice, her expression on the brink of breaking down, a strange emptiness settled in his chest.
He wondered if being so close to him made her feel this miserable.
Beatrice’s resistance and fear, the way she looked like she’d rather die than let him touch her, stabbed into Desmond’s heart like needles. Each prick was sharp and painful, driving him to madness and fury.
His expression darkened as he grabbed Beatrice’s hands from his chest and pinned them above her head. “You’ll want this!”
“Bastard!” Beatrice was so furious that she could taste blood at the back of her throat.
She was about to curse him again, but Desmond had already

Beatrice screamed, “You were the one who cheated! You were the one who pushed me away! You were the one who hurt me! And now you still won’t stop tormenting me? How can you be this crucl?”
She was completely overwhelmed, her emotions breaking past the point of no return. Tears spilled down her cheeks, relentless and unstoppable, like a string of broken pearls.
It took her everything to get married, and now divorcing was even harder. Beatrice really had enough.
“Don’t cry. Please don’t cry, baby. It’s my fault. It’s all my fault.” Desmond’s heart twisted in agony. “I deserve to die for this. I lost my damn mind. I don’t want to hurt you. I just… I don’t want you to leave.”
Beatrice suddenly went still. She looked at him through tear–filled eyes, maybe drained from the breakdown, maybe dazed from being trapped in this godforsaken place.
Exhaustion, frustration, and helplessness crashed down on her all at once.
“Is that what it takes? Do I have to die for you to finally let me go?” She asked in a trembling voice.
Desmond fell silent and was utterly stunned. His hand hovered near her cheek, frozen in place as he stared at her.
He didn’t know how to answer that.

From there, the outcome had become inevitable–like a domino castle built with painstaking care, only to have the first tile knocked over.
Once it started falling, there was no stopping it. The whole thing collapsed into ruins, completely out of control.
They sat in the car, staring at each other in silence for what felt like forever. Neither of them spoke as if they had both run out of energy all at once.
No one knew how much time had passed before Beatrice suddenly said, “I’m hungry. I want something to eat.”
