Trapped in the boss's embrace (by Katrina A) novel Chapter 59

Chapter 59 It’s Fate

1/9

Desmond, give me back my phone!Violet protested. She couldn’t grab it back while trying to watch the road and drive at the same time.

In those few seconds, Desmond had already opened her WhatsApp and spotted the new message.

It was from Beatrice, just as he’d suspected.

It read that she was waiting at a bistro in a nearby town.

He didn’t stop at reading just that message. He scrolled through their earlier conversations too.

His veins bulged at his temples as his grip tightened around the phone, nearly crushing it.

Damian had been the one who took her away. This meant he’d been tracking her movements all along.

Even Violet could tell the guy had ulterior motives, yet Beatrice still insisted there was nothing going on between them.

Though his anger was about to set Violet’s car ablaze, he simply replied ok,then punched the bistro’s address into the navigation system and ordered Violet to drive there.

Desmond then threatened to dump her on the side of the road

and drive himself if she didn’t cooperate.

Violet groaned internally. How the hell did I end up with this psycho?

Given that his mood teetered on the edge of a fullblown meltdown, she didn’t dare push back. She wanted to make it through the night in one piece.

Beatrice never in a million years would’ve guessed that Violet would run into Desmond. And now she’d basically been kidnappedby him.

One stupid text had completely given away her location.

They hadn’t been in the car long when her stomach started growling loudly.

A while later, Damian pulled into a small town, but at this hour, most restaurants had already closed.

Only a food truck and a small bistro were still open.

She chose the bistro and texted Violet to meet her there, figuring her friend probably hadn’t eaten dinner either. She ordered extra pasta for her, making sure they added plenty of meatballs.

Damian gave her a knowing smile. Well, at least you’ve got some conscience.

Beatrice blinked. Huh? Oh, yeahdo you like spicy food, Mr. Crowley? The pasta here is quite spicy.

Though she recovered quickly, Damian caught that flash of confusion on her face. He realized he’d been flattering himself. The extra food wasn’t meant for him at all.

Kind of late to ask if I like spicy food after you’ve already ordered, isn’t it?he said.

Not at all!Beatrice pointed to the red pepper flakes in the corner of the table. You can add whatever you want when it

arrives.

Damian’s expression went flat. Let’s be honest. Did you actually order that for me?

Yeah, totally! Who else would I be ordering for?Beatrice stared at him with wide, innocent eyes.

Well, it was like having a gift meant for someone else, but Damian claimed it first. And Beatrice had no choice but to roll with the punches.

She could hardly take it back and say, No, this wasn’t for you.

Her bosspatience wasn’t an unlimited resource, after all.

Damian stared at the woman before him, who had a sincere expression with fake intentions, and let out a cold laugh. Ms. Lawson, you’re wasting your talents not being on stage.

Beatrice blushed as she fell silent.

Under the harsh fluorescent lights that revealed every peach fuzz on her face, nothing could be hidden. Her attempts at smoothness came across as petty deception in his eyes.

She surrendered. Fine. I actually ordered it for Violet.

Damian said nothing more. When the pasta arrived, he didn’t touch it.

This left Beatrice in an awkward position.

She was genuinely hungry, but with him sitting across from her, giving her that icy stare that screamed, You heartless, fake woman, just go ahead and eat,how could she possibly enjoy her

meal?

She swore to herself she’d order his food first next time.

Outside, Violet’s car pulled up.

Through the glass door, Beatrice spotted Violet’s car.

Violet, in a white tracksuit, stepped out from the driver’s side, smiling as she looked up to wave hello. Then, Beatrice saw the man climbing out of the passenger seat, and her smile froze.

Damian noticed her expression change and turned to look.

That was when he saw a completely miserablelooking Violet alongside Desmond, whose face was as dark as the night.

After thinking for a second, he figured out what was happening

tears.

It’s fate,he said.

Beatrice nodded numbly. Yeah.

She went all the way to escape from Desmond just to be found. by him again.

The door swung open.

Desmond crossed the room in a few quick strides and slid into the seat next to Beatrice, his eyes moving from her face down to her hands.

Suddenly, he broke into a smile, grabbed her hand, and pulled the pasta toward himself.

He picked up a bite and took a mouthful. You were so hungry that you ran off to eat pasta by yourself? Why didn’t you just tell

me?

Beatrice forced a dry, humorless smile.

Desmond turned his attention to Damian. Look, Mr. Crowley, why do I keep catching you hanging around other men’s wives? She’s married, or didn’t you get the memo?

The bistro owners and a customer couldn’t help but stare at the unfolding drama.

Violet had enough. Desmond, stop lashing out at everyone like some kind of psycho. Mr. Crowley was just being a good Samaritan.

Desmond turned to her with a cold smile. Didn’t you text that you’d shave your head and become a monk if he wasn’t interested in her? So, what, you want to do it now?

Violet felt like she’d been punched in the gut. Words completely failed her.

In the meantime, Beatrice froze, equally speechless.

Neither of them had ever imagined their private chat would reach Damian’s ears like this.

The atmosphere grew as cold and stiff as the pasta congealing on their plates.

After what felt like forever, Damian broke into a gentle smile. His demeanor remained impossibly calm, giving off that infuriating vibe that whatever he did, he had his reasons.

Whether I’m interested in Ms. Lawson or not is entirely my business and has nothing to do with her,he said, his voice smooth as honey.

If my actions today have upset you, Mr. Belmont, I can only apologize. But regardless of whether you’re still her legal husband, forcing yourself on a woman against her wishes ist completely classless.
