Trapped in the boss's embrace (by Katrina A) novel Chapter 60

Chapter 60 Slandering

With a sigh, Beatrice picked up her fork and started eating.

Violet had clearly lost her mind over Damian.

But Beatrice couldn’t blame her. No one could possibly resist being softly gazed at by such a handsome man. Also, he sounded SO seductive when he offered her extra meatballs.

It was basically hypnosis at this point

Even the bistro owner seemed excited by Damian’s presence.

Violet tried to force Desmond to finish his food too, but his death glares made her back off. She wasn’t brave enough to push her luck.

As they left the bistro, Beatrice was initially leaning on Violet for support, but Desmond muscled his way between them and took

over.

Will you just stop already?

With that, Beatrice yanked her arm away and hissed under her breath.

Don’t tell me you’re planning to leave with Damian now,Desmond said.

2/10 Who I go with is none of your business,Beatrice snapped. We signed the divorce papers. If you’re dragging your feet about finalizing it, that’s your problem! As far as I’m concerned, we’re done!

She pulled her hand free with a jerk.

Desmond grabbed her wrist again, locking it in his grip. We’re not done for me.

Standing in the darkness, Damian let out a soft tsk. I swear I’ve heard these exact lines at least three times already.

Violet threw up her hands in frustration. If this were a novel, it’d be total word paddingone says leave, the other says stay, and they repeat it a million times in an endless loop.

Hearing that, Damian nearly rolled his eyes.

After a moment’s pause, he suggested, How about this? I’ll take Desmond, and you take Beatrice.

Violet nodded in agreement.

She turned to look at him and was struck by just how freaking tall he was. Standing this close, she had to crane her neck upward despite being five feet seven herself.

Being held by him would definitely feel safe.

She stared at him with hungry eyes and said in a flirty voice, Mr. Crowleyif things don’t work out with Beatiedo you

Tilting his head slightly, Damian cut her straight off, Oh, I’m not interested in women.

Damian put it casually and blankly, as if they were only having small talks, discussing the weather.

Violet’s jaw dropped.

Not interested in women! So Beatie was telling the truth? He really is gay? Ugh, what a waste of prime husband material!

Damian ignored her wild mental spiral and walked toward the two people stuck in their argument loop.

He reached out and wrapped it around Desmond’s shoulders,

if coaxing a temperamental child, I won’t take her away. I’ll take you away instead, okay?

o as

Desmond froze in surprise.

Your car’s out of gas, and it’s nearly impossible to get a ride this late. As for whether you two are breaking up or not, we can hash that out another day. The result won’t change either way,Damian said, nudging him toward his car.

He stood a few inches taller than Desmond. In terms of looks, Damian gave off that cool, elegant handsomeness, while Desmond had more of that rugged, masculine charm.

Logic said Desmond should’ve had the stronger presence

Chapter 60 Slandering between them.

But standing side by side, Damian somehow still dominated the

scene.

There was just something impossibly highborn about Damian that couldn’t be matched.

Desmond swatted Damian’s arm away, then turned to see Violet’s car pulling up in front of Beatrice. He tried to rush over and stop her, but Damian grabbed him by the arm.

That split second was all it took for her to get in the car.

Beatrice!Desmond shouted at the departing vehicle, his voice. cracking with rage.

He wasn’t pissed about Beatrice riding with Violet; he was pissed that she’d slipped away from him yet again.

Damian patted his shoulder. Mr. Belmont, let’s not disturb the peace at this hour. Time to go.

Desmond shot Damian a look so dark it could’ve peeled paint. He looked ready to rip him to shreds.

It was past 2 AM when Beatrice and Violet got back to Cloudia.

When they got back to Violet’s place, Beatrice wrapped her slightly reopened wounds with gauze and quickly hopped in the

Chapter 60 Slandering shower.

The moment her head hit the pillow, she passed out completely.

She didn’t wake up until noon the next day. At that time, Violet had already left for work.

On the coffee table sat a takeout breakfast with a note tucked underneath: [Don’t you dare run around today. Stay put at home like a good girl. I’ll be back to feed you later.]

A warm feeling spread through Beatrice’s chest.

Violet never had breakfast herself, but she never forgot to get

some for Beatrice.

She opened the bag, pulled out the food, and turned on the TV. Later on, she flipped through the channels until she found a random drama to watch while eating.

It was one of those family melodramas, and right as it hit a scene with mother versus her son’s daughter drama, her mind drifted to Autumn and Madeline.

Yesterday evening, those two had returned to Belmont Manor together.

So they’re joining forces now? Did Autumn seriously forget about getting thrown under the bus that quickly?

She might not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but she’s not that dumb either. Can she really accept her son having a wife

like that?

Beatrice couldn’t figure out Autumn’s logic, but it wasn’t exactly

bad news for her. It meant another person would be putting pressure on Desmond.

Though the real heavy lifting would have to come from

Madelineeven if her moves so far hadn’t exactly been

gamechangers.

After breakfast, Beatrice curled up on the couch, trying to figure out her next move.

Should I mess with Madeline some more and see what she’s capable of?

On second thought, she decided against it.

Madeline was already starting to lose it. Pushing her any further might send her completely over the edge, and that wouldn’t help

anyone.

Her thoughts shifted, and she remembered she hadn’t called Gordon back yesterday. She dialed his number.

He’d been making sure she ate properly for days now, and the day before yesterday, he’d even reminded her to stay safe. She owed him at least a checkin.

Gordon already knew she was okay, though.

Damian had returned to the penthouse apartment in the early

hours of the morning, but Gordon didn’t mention that. He just smiled with relief and said, Glad you’re alright.

Before she could end their call, another call buzzed through.

Beatrice quickly said goodbye to Gordon and picked up Scarlett’s call. Hey gorgeous, what’s up now?
