Chapter 68 Danger Approached
Beatrice continued to lie still, maintaining her composure.

After a while, the man finished his call and returned to his car.
His vehicle was parked diagonally opposite Beatrice’s. He got in and sipped a can of beverage.
Nothing seemed particularly unusual.
Perhaps it was mere coincidence that he had left Cloudia late at night at the same time as Beatrice three days ago, and was now returning to Cloudia simultaneously three days later.
However, Beatrice didn’t believe in such coincidences.
Half an hour passed.
Beatrice hadn’t left, and neither had the man.
She was certain he had been following her.
Who sent this person?
Could it be the Fairfax family?
If he were an assassin, why hadn’t he made a move during the past three days?

Countless questions raced through Beatrice’s mind. She couldn’t be sure.
She considered calling the police, but waiting for their arrival would take time.
More importantly, they were simply traveling the same route. There was no concrete evidence, only suspicion, and the man could easily feign innocence.
It was still an hour’s drive to Cloudia. He had shadowed her for days without taking action. Perhaps if she drove normally and pretended not to notice, he would continue to bide his time.
Having made her decision, Beatrice started the car and pulled
away.
The man also started his car, following at a measured pace.
He didn’t tail her closely; sometimes he even disappeared from view, only to reappear moments later. If she hadn’t been aware he was following her, she might not have noticed his car at all.
Beatrice was convinced he was a professional.
Throughout the hour–long drive, her palms were slick with
sweat.
Only when she entered Cloudia’s urban area did she begin to relax slightly. As she approached her residential area, she suddenly accelerated.

The man in the car behind cursed under his breath. “Damn it, she’s figured it out!”
On the empty street, Beatrice didn’t hesitate to run a red light
without slowing down. She drove into the complex, while the pursuing car was blocked outside the entrance.
She exhaled deeply, believing herself safe at last.
Beatrice drove into the garage. After parking, she stepped out, collected her luggage, and called Violet while walking, informing her that she was being followed.
In the garage, a man wearing a wide–brimmed black cap emerged from another vehicle. The brim was so large that when he tilted his head slightly downward, his face was completely
obscured.
He moved silently behind Beatrice, making no sound whatsoever.
Beatrice reached the entrance. She paused to scan her face at the security checkpoint, still describing the stalking incident to
Violet.
Suddenly, a swift movement came from behind.
She felt a sharp pain in the back of her neck before everything went dark. Her body went limp, and the phone slipped from her
grasp.
The man behind her caught her as she fell, deftly snatched the

phone mid–air, and ended the call.

“Beatie? What’s going on?” Violet called out several times, then checked her phone to find the call had been disconnected.
She called back.
The call connected, but no one answered.
Beatrice had just mentioned entering her building’s parking garage, so logically, she should be in the elevator by now.
The phone rang for a while before disconnecting automatically.
Sensing something was wrong, Violet grabbed her car keys and hurried out.
On the way, she called Damian. She had boldly asked for his contact information that time at the restaurant.
He also lived in that building, so she could ask him to go downstairs and investigate.
Violet placed the call, and after 10 seconds, it connected.
A clear, melodious voice came through.
“Hello.“–
Violet had no time to admire his enchanting voice or engage in pleasantries. She got straight to the point.

“Don’t get excited yet. His expression was completely cold. It doesn’t appear he has any feelings for her,” David remarked.
Maria mused, “Perhaps he’ll develop feelings after spending some time together?”

“Damian couldn’t actually prefer men, could he?” Maria murmured to herself.

“You know, when I visited my parents recently, I met that boy from the Chapman family. He mentioned that Damian liked spending time with him. Last winter, the two of them stayed in Slideland together for 10 days.”
David failed to grasp her meaning. “What’s wrong with that?”
Maria blushed, appearing too embarrassed to continue, “I’ve heard that the Chapman boy is attracted to handsome, strong men, and he’s… top.”
