Chapter 9 So Sick of You
“How dare you insult me?!”
Madeline, furious, charged at Beatrice.
Beatrice slapped her without hesitation. Seeing her attempt to retaliate, Beatrice yanked off her towel, pushed her head down, and forced her to the ground.
Before she could release her grip, a strong force suddenly pulled her
away.

Beatrice lost her balance, stumbling backward, her lower back hitting the edge of the table hard.
The pain was so intense that she broke out in a cold sweat, unable to make a sound.
Desmond quickly took off his suit and knelt to cover Madeline’s exposed body with it.
Crying and yelling, Madeline made a huge scene in the room.
“Beatrice, get out!” Desmond roared in anger, not noticing how pale Beatrice had turned.
Roland snapped out of his shock and rushed to steady her. “Are you okay?”
Tears welled up in her eyes as Beatrice cursed through gritted teeth, “Desmond, you disgusting piece of trash!”
She pushed Roland’s hand away. Even though she could barely stand, she forced herself to walk.
Desmond felt a jolt. He suddenly realized that the look in her eyes said it all–she was done with him.
Panic washed over him.
Roland spoke up again, “Mrs… She’s hurt her waist. It looks pretty bad.”
Desmond’s expression shifted, a flicker of concern crossing his face. He remembered how he’d yanked her earlier and the pain on her face.
Ignoring Madeline, he quickly stood up and ran after Beatrice.

“Violet, this farce has to end NOW! I just can’t stand looking at his face anymore.” Beatrice leaned against the elevator wall, her voice thick with held–back sobs.
Her trembling hand was barely holding the phone.
She couldn’t face going back to the project department looking like a mess, so she forced herself to leave the company and drive to her new place instead.
Chapter 9 So Sick of You
Violet Hudson immediately sensed the strain in Beatrice’s voice. She grabbed her bag and car keys, rushing out.
“Where are you?”
Beatrice told her the address.
“Okay, I’ll be there in a minute.”
Violet wasn’t just Beatrice’s divorce lawyer; she was also her childhood friend.
She knew Beatrice inside out.
Even though Beatrice always seemed gentle and delicate on the outside, she could be quite tough deep down.
After finding out about Desmond’s affair, Beatrice was hurting, but she stayed calm, preparing for the divorce without shedding a single tear in front of Violet.
Violet knew Beatrice wouldn’t show her vulnerability unless she was at her breaking point.
She silently cursed Desmond.
“Alright, I’ll wait for you.”
With that, Beatrice hung up and closed her eyes, standing still in the elevator.
Her long hair fell over her face, blocking out the light around

her. Her thoughts spiraled, sinking into a dark, endless vortex.
After what seemed like the end of time, a deep male voice broke the silence.
“Are you done yet?”
Beatrice’s eyes snapped open, and she turned to the direction of the voice quickly.
Then she saw a man’s broad shoulders. Dressed in a white blouse and black suit, he had this Alpha vibe.
And when she looked up, she gazed into his icy and sparkling eyes, which happened to be looking straight back into her eyes.
“It’s you…” she murmured, recognizing him.
Her heart sank, and she felt a wave of embarrassment.
Damian Crowley was finding this whole situation a bit tiresome.
She had followed him into the elevator, parked herself in the most important corner, and remained absolutely still.
He leaned forward.
At 6.2 feet tall, his frame felt like an imposing mountain looming over her.
Beatrice instinctively raised a hand to block him. “What are you…?”
Before the remaining words left her mouth, his long fingers landed on her arm.
He gently pushed her aside, then reached for the fingerprint lock.
Beatrice froze.
It was only then that she realized the elevator hadn’t moved because she hadn’t pressed the button.
And, she had been blocking the fingerprint lock, preventing anyone else from using it.
The air felt thick with tension.
Beatrice felt this was beyond awkward.
Finally, the elevator began to rise.
When it hit the 5th floor, Beatrice silently pressed the fingerprint lock and saw the floor he was about to hit.
It was 46th floor. The top floor.
Stiffly, she moved to the side, and the awkwardness in the air swung even more crazily.
At that moment, Damian’s phone buzzed.
He picked up the call, his distant tone reached her ears. “What is

it? Hmm? My measurements? Ms. Lawson asked for them…”

Hearing that, Beatrice wished that she could disappear in the blink of an eye. The embarrassment was too much for her to handle.
Taking a deep breath, she asked, “Is this convenient…?”
Damian’s face remained emotionless, and he didn’t say a word.
With a soft ding, the elevator doors slid open. Feeling like she’d been rescued, Beatrice quickly stepped out, clutching her waist.

When Violet arrived, Beatrice was lying on the bed, looking calm.
“What happened?” Violet asked softly, crouching beside the bed.
Beatrice’s eyes slowly focused. The awkward moment in the elevator had cleared her mind, pulling her out of the emotional storm. Her mood was steady now.
She told Violet everything that had happened at the company. Violet, on the other hand, was furious.
