Trash Husband, I'm the Top novel Chapter 166

“Daniel, she doesn’t know I came to see you.”

“And honestly, it’s not fair to her for you to get engaged right now.”

To Aurora, this was nothing short of humiliation.

Daniel narrowed his eyes, malice flickering in his gaze.

“What, does her family background even compare to Monica’s? Or is she somehow better looking than Monica?”

“What sane man would choose a woman who’s already had a child out of wedlock?”

He spoke with cruel satisfaction, completely oblivious to Mrs. Chambers repeatedly glancing upstairs.

She was pleased—her son finally seemed to see things her way.

Aurora, however, was already in tears.

At last, she understood why Daniel had so readily agreed to sign the divorce papers.

In his eyes, she was tainted—unworthy of him now that she’d had a child before marriage.

He thought she was beneath him, good for nothing more than being his mistress.

Her whole body trembled, barely able to stand.

She stared down at the man below—the same man she’d once loved, the man she’d dreamed of spending her life with—now speaking words meant to tear her apart, his face cold and void of feeling.

He despised her family, her looks, the fact that she’d had a child.

His true feelings were as cruel as knives.

And her heart shattered.

Louis had come here hoping to win Aurora one last chance.

If Aurora still loved Daniel, and Daniel felt the same, maybe they could clear up the misunderstanding and start over.

If Aurora had no feelings for Daniel, then at least Daniel, knowing the truth, could let her go.

He never imagined Daniel would show such open disgust and hatred for Aurora.

Louis just stared back, refusing to answer.

The two men glared at one another, a silent standoff.

Mrs. Chambers’ heart skipped a beat. If Daniel found out Aurora was upstairs—had seen and heard everything—he’d show her no mercy as his mother.

Yes, she scolded Aurora for chasing after Daniel, but deep down she knew who was chasing whom.

“That’s enough, Dan. This is your engagement party with Monica. Are you really going to put on a show for everyone?” she snapped, desperate for her son to come to his senses.

Monica’s eyes were already brimming with tears.

With everyone watching, Daniel’s obsession with another woman made her a laughingstock.

Daniel pressed his fingers to his brow and searched the crowd for Will.

Will was a jack-of-all-trades, the kind of right hand who kept his boss’s world running like clockwork—and who always knew how to read the room.

Without missing a beat, Will slipped out of the crowd to make a phone call.
