Trash Husband, I'm the Top novel Chapter 233

Nora and Eleanor returned to the private dining room, one after the other.

Nora’s eyes still glistened with tears brought on by the nausea, her face pale.

“I don’t feel well. I want to go home,” she said quietly.

Daniel immediately reached for her hand. “Should I take you to the hospital?”

A sense of dread crept up on Eleanor.

And sure enough, Nora spoke again, her voice steady: “It’s nothing serious. Just take me home, would you?”

Daniel nodded. “Alright.”

Eleanor shot to her feet, knocking her cutlery aside with a sharp clatter. The sound rang out in the awkward silence.

This was deliberate. Nora was doing this on purpose—as payback. She was trying to take Daniel away, to sabotage the engagement.

Eleanor bit her lip, her trembling hands braced against the table. “Dinner isn’t finished yet,” she reminded Daniel, her voice barely above a whisper.

She wanted him to remember—the engagement with Hans was far from settled.

He couldn’t just walk away.

Nora’s lips curled, but this time, Daniel chose Eleanor.

Nora let out a cold, mocking laugh. “After all, this is Ms. Quinn’s big day, isn’t it? If you left now, who knows, she might just cry herself blind.”

She straightened, smoothing her dress. “I can get home on my own. You should focus on finalizing your precious Eleanor’s wedding. Otherwise, she’ll curse me in her dreams.”

With that, she made to leave.

Daniel caught her wrist before she could escape.

The engagement was important, and Daniel had his own priorities. He couldn’t step away, but he didn’t want Nora to go either.

“Aurora, let me take you upstairs to rest,” he said quietly.

Nora met Eleanor’s secretly triumphant gaze and couldn’t help but give a bitter, sarcastic smile. “No need. I can take care of myself, thanks.”

She was perfectly capable of surviving without Daniel.

What David wanted was a guarantee—a hundred percent benefit.

Daniel’s voice was calm but firm. “So, Mr. Cooper, are you saying Eleanor isn’t good enough for Hans? Don’t forget, she’s the one who traveled abroad with him in the first place.”

David knew all about that trip. In fact, it was the reason relations between the Chambers and Cooper families had grown so icy.

Luckily, the two family matriarchs kept in touch, and things had eased up a bit.

“Dating is one thing,” David said, wearing a smile. “But marriage is something else entirely. You understand, Dan—you’re a businessman. I’m sure you know where I’m coming from.”

Daniel swirled his wine, turning to Hans. “And what about you? What do you think?”

The Coopers were playing hard to get, and he didn’t like it. In his mind, Eleanor’s happiness mattered far more than any business advantage.

Eleanor twisted her fingers together under the table, anxiously waiting for Hans’s reply. She hoped—perhaps foolishly—for something.

Hans hadn’t spoken a word, lounging back in his chair as if the whole engagement talk had nothing to do with him.

At last, with all eyes on him, Hans finally drawled, “If you ask me, a partnership doesn’t have to come with a marriage contract.”
