Trash Husband, I'm the Top novel Chapter 324

Once the police had a grasp of the situation, she called Will, asking if he could arrange a search for the child.

Will acted immediately, mobilizing his people and passing the news on to Daniel.

Daniel stepped out of the conference room and dialed Nora.

“Aurora.”

“Payne’s been kidnapped.” The tension in Nora’s voice eased just a little; the tears she’d been holding back finally spilled down her cheeks.

It felt as though she finally had someone solid to lean on.

Daniel tried to soothe her. “Has the kidnapper called? Made any demands?”

“They want thirty million.” Nora’s voice broke with worry.

Thirty million?

Daniel was instantly on high alert; the number rang too many bells.

He asked Will to look into Jordan and Eleanor.

If he was right, they were involved in this—one way or another.

As it turned out, his instincts were spot on.

By the time Daniel’s plane landed, Will had already received word: they’d found the child.

But the kidnapper wasn’t Jordan, and it wasn’t Eleanor.

It was Monica.

She was young, and her attempt at kidnapping had been sloppy. She’d left traces everywhere—clues that made it all too easy to find her.

When Daniel’s security team burst into the hotel suite, Monica was still in shock, unable to comprehend how she’d been found so quickly.

Nora’s heart finally settled when she saw Payne sitting on the sofa.

“Payne, it’s okay. Mommy’s here.”

Payne was terrified. He clung to Nora’s neck and wouldn’t let go, his eyes brimming with tears.

He’d only taken his toy plane for a run down the hallway—then someone had grabbed him.

And after he was brought here, the woman had said all sorts of strange things.

He’d never been so scared in his life.

Their driver took them home, while Daniel headed to the police station.

In the car, Payne clung to Nora’s hand, refusing to let go.

His little face was clouded with worry.

“Mommy, does Daddy not want us anymore?” He sniffled, heartbreak in his voice.

Nora stroked his hair and explained gently, “Of course not, sweetheart. Daddy’s just been very busy lately. When he’s less busy, he’ll come see you, okay?”

Payne’s lips trembled and he started to cry.

“She said Daddy doesn’t want you and me anymore.

“Mr. Chambers doesn’t want us either.

“She said we’ll have to go out and beg for food.

“She said we’re just a burden.”

The more he spoke, the sadder he became.

Nora’s expression turned icy. Monica had filled her son’s head with these awful lies.
