Trash Husband, I'm the Top novel Chapter 336

Donna had spelled things out so clearly that Daniel had no choice but to agree.

“I’ll leave four perfume production lines to Judy. As for the fifth one, I’ve already given it to Aurora—Judy can’t touch that.”

“Dan, honestly, I don’t even know what to say to you anymore.” Donna’s disappointment in her nephew was palpable. “Nora is Mr. Frost’s protégé, and she still has Susan’s research notes. You should be doing everything you can to keep her in charge of R&D.”

Despite Donna’s clear distaste for Nora, she couldn’t bring herself to let go of the resources Nora brought with her.

Daniel could see straight through her.

He didn’t want Donna making things difficult for Nora.

“She’s pregnant. She needs to focus on her health.”

Donna sighed and changed the subject.

“One more thing—your uncle’s health has gotten worse. I’ve brought him here. Could you ask the hospital to make arrangements?”

“Uncle’s illness…”

Donna’s eyes grew damp and red. “It’s gotten much worse. The doctors say… he might have six months left, at best.”

Daniel realized he’d touched a sore spot and said nothing more.

He left the study.

As the door closed, Donna muttered under her breath, “Is this household run by Lilian and Nora now? Why does everything have to revolve around them?”

Her frustration was obvious.

After all, Donna had always believed that the lady of the Chambers family was supposed to be her—outsiders had no place making decisions here.

Mr. Hogan Chambers, her father, knew his daughter’s temperament all too well. He tried to reason with her. “Dan’s the one in charge now—just let it go.”

He paused, then added, “And about Eleanor—just forget it. I won’t allow it.”

He’d never liked Eleanor.

Neither did his granddaughter.

Donna was at a loss for words. “But the marriage arrangement with the Cooper family…”

If Eleanor bore the Chambers name, that alliance would be secure.

Mr. Hogan Chambers said nothing, his cloudy eyes seeing straight through her intentions.

Satisfied, Donna left the study.

Leaning heavily on his cane, Mr. Hogan Chambers struggled to his feet and slowly made his way to the window, gazing out at the darkening sky.

His daughter seemed so gentle on the surface, but her ambitions soared higher than anyone could imagine.

Out in the corridor, Daniel ran into Mrs. Chambers.

She spoke softly, “Did Donna give you a hard time?”

Mrs. Chambers still remembered Donna’s scheming from when she’d first married Brian. Donna was nothing if not formidable.

Thankfully, after Donna married and moved out of state, she only returned for holidays. Life had been easier since.

Daniel hesitated. “Would you like to move in with me for a while?”

With his uncle in the hospital, Donna would be staying at the old house, and Daniel worried his mother wouldn’t be comfortable under the same roof.

But Mrs. Chambers shook her head. “No need. Back then, I put up with her because I was afraid she’d convince Brian to divorce me. Now that I’m getting a divorce anyway, what do I have to fear?”

She was determined to stay in the old house, if only to make sure Donna couldn’t bring Eleanor in and cause trouble.
