Trash Husband, I'm the Top novel Chapter 365

In the hospital room, Mrs. Chambers finally let go. Eleanor, clutching her head, cowered behind Donna, whimpering pitifully.

Donna wasted no time in complaining, “Dan, you really need to rein your mother in. She’s completely out of control—yanking Eleanor’s hair in front of everyone, dragging her out of the elevator. Honestly, what kind of behavior is that?”

Eleanor choked out between sobs, “I had no idea there would be an accident, I swear. If I’d known, I never would have let him come pick me up. I’m so sorry, truly, I am.”

“Stop pretending,” Mrs. Chambers snapped, her patience worn thin. “Keep your mouth shut, or I’ll give you something to really cry about.”

Eleanor’s whimpers stopped instantly.

Only then did Mrs. Chambers turn to Daniel. When she saw the bruises on his face, her heart ached.

“How did you end up like this?”

Her gaze flicked back to Eleanor, full of venom—she looked like she wanted nothing more than to tear the girl apart. Mrs. Chambers regretted not being harsher, not slapping Eleanor a few more times while she had the chance.

Daniel rubbed his forehead. “It’s not serious. Please, just let Eleanor go. Don’t make this harder on her.”

Eleanor shot him a grateful look, tears brimming in her eyes.

Mrs. Chambers was far from satisfied. “She put you in this state and you’re just going to let it go?”

Donna wasn’t having it. “Dan is Eleanor’s brother. Of course he’s going to protect his sister—how is that causing trouble?”

Mrs. Chambers’ expression darkened.

“Eleanor is a married woman. She has a husband. If she can’t handle her own marriage, why does she have to drag Dan into it?”

She shot a glare at Eleanor, then fixed Daniel with a cold stare. “If something happened to you, what would Nora do? What about her baby? Should she be a widow at such a young age, or just get rid of the baby and marry someone else?”

Her words cut deep, and even Daniel wasn’t spared. “So, in your eyes, Eleanor matters more than Nora and her child?”

Daniel opened his mouth, but the words stuck. “No, of course not.”
