“Casey, his kiss is way better than yours. Like, a thousand times better.”
Julian’s eyes darkened as anger surged up inside him. “Fine. You’re really something, you know that?”
Without another word, he pulled Madeline close, his lips crashing down on hers, hot and possessive. The kiss was rough, almost punishing, his teeth grazing her lips as if he wanted her to feel every bit of his frustration. She let out a muffled protest but he just tightened his hold, acting like he couldn’t even hear her.
Julian didn’t even know what he was doing anymore. She had pissed him off so many times. Five years ago, she’d done something unforgivable, cruel enough to destroy Helene’s child. He was supposed to hate her. He did hate her. But even with all that hatred, he still couldn’t stand the thought of another man touching her. Not Casey! Not anyone! She was his wife, and that was never going to change. Even if all they had left was hate, he wanted her to only have room for him.
He couldn’t explain why he wanted her so badly. Last night, the sight of Casey kissing her made him want to run Casey over with his car. He didn’t, obviously, but he’d spent the whole night drinking and still couldn’t shake the anger.
“Move your damn head, I can’t see anything,” someone complained from the hallway.
“Josh, you’re the one standing in the way. I can’t see either,” another voice shot back.
There was a scuffle, then suddenly both guys stumbled into the room together. “Shit! Watch it!” one of them yelped.
At the sound, Madeline tried to push Julian off, her hands on his shoulders. He ignored the chaos, his arm locking around her waist, pinning her down as he deepened the kiss, his hand tangled in her hair.
Madeline thought he was completely out of his mind. The bed wasn’t even in direct view of the door, and there was a whole living room in between, but somehow he just didn’t care that they had an audience.
When he finally let her go, Julian stared at her, taking in the bright flush on her cheeks like it was some sort of victory. He looked satisfied, almost smug, as he got up. Then he noticed Josh and Brady standing frozen in the doorway, and shot them a glare so cold it could cut through steel. Instantly, the two guys bolted out, tripping over each other to get away.
