Indeed, Harlan genuinely hadn't. Last time he saw them, they were in plain clothes with Drusilla. Today, dressed in the stylish outfits Blythe gifted them, they looked entirely different.
In Harlan's eyes, Drusilla's kids were just two clueless little brats, as plain as dirt.
And kids, well, they all look the same to him. He hadn't paid much attention to them last time, just felt irked and didn't even take a proper look.
What mattered more was that it never crossed his mind that Drusilla's kids could be Enoch's. Folks like the Taylors, they care a lot about their lineage. Why would they go to a hospital to donate their genes?
So, he never connected the dots between these kids and the ones he'd abandoned.
He looked at Colton and Cormac, smiling, "Hey there."
The kids, seeing Harlan, wondered how they ended up running into this jerk, the very one who always made their mom's life miserable.
Cormac clenched his fists, remembering Drusilla's warning not to blow their cover, so he held back.
Lilith, sitting next to Harlan, asked, "Back so soon?"
"When the missus calls, you hurry back," Harlan replied, tucking a strand of Lilith's hair behind her ear, the two looking blissfully happy.
Cybele announced from the stairs, "Ma'am, the boys' room is ready!"
Blythe beamed, "Colton, Cormac, let me show you your room."
Drusilla stood up, "I'll take them."
The kids naturally followed her, while Enoch and Oberon headed to their room.
Lilith frowned, watching Drusilla and the kids ascend the stairs, visibly upset.
