When Drusilla caught sight of Blythe, her heart skipped a beat, and she quickly launched into an explanation. “Cormac was asking about his stuff back home. I told him we’d go back and get it.”
Despite the allure of new things, kids often cling to the familiar. The items from home might not have been expensive, but they were gifts from Drusilla, treasures that both little rascals adored.
Blythe responded, “We’ll send someone to take care of it. Just give Verena a heads-up.”
Drusilla nodded, “I’ll do it.”
“You?” Blythe looked at Drusilla, skepticism written all over her face.
Drusilla explained, “I’ve met with Verena before. We even had lunch together today. We actually get along quite well. After all, we’re both mothers, just trying to do what’s best for the kids.”
Blythe was taken aback by Drusilla’s words, “I had you pegged wrong, thinking you were unreasonable. Looks like I misjudged you.”
Drusilla looked at Blythe, knowing well that Blythe’s reservations about her stemmed from her earlier reluctance to have the kids move back in.
Blythe couldn’t possibly hold a grudge against her... right?
With a slight smile, Drusilla said, “You’re just looking out for the kids, I get that.”
Blythe’s gaze drifted to the children, who were marveling at their new room. “I’ve got no issues with you,” she finally said. “Enoch likes you, and he’s the one who wants a life with you. As long as he’s happy, that’s all that matters. My only ask is that you treat the kids well. If you don’t, don’t expect kindness from me.”
Hearing Blythe’s words, Drusilla looked at Colton and Cormac, promising, “You have my word.”
The kids quickly made themselves at home in their new room, not wanting to interrupt, Drusilla left to find Enoch, who was with Oberon in another room.
Upon seeing Drusilla enter, Oberon excused himself, “I’ll leave you two to it.”
Enoch nodded, “Alright.”
