Twins - The Unforeseen Legacy of My Ex's Uncle-in-Law novel Chapter 253

Drusilla paused, a hint of disbelief in her voice. "No."

"Really?" Enoch raised an eyebrow, skepticism lacing his tone. "Let's be honest, if it weren't for me pushing you into it, you never would've agreed to marry me."

Seeing the hurt in his eyes, Drusilla softened, "Enoch, that's not how I feel at all. You're great, and I don't want you to think otherwise. Besides, we both know your legs are going to get better. Just believe in me, cut back on the booze, and everything will work out, right? As for Verena... maybe she was just in a bad mood and said things she shouldn't have. Let's not hold it against her, for the kids' sake, okay?"

Enoch scoffed, "You're just saying that. Afraid I'll cut you off financially. Afraid I'll be harsh to the Lawsons! Not a shred of truth in your words. Drusilla, you're nothing but a liar!"

Drusilla was speechless. She had been sincerely trying to comfort him, and somehow, she ended up being the liar?

"I'm not lying to you," she insisted.

"It's Serge you like," Enoch finally got to the heart of the matter, his voice carrying a mix of accusation and vulnerability. It was clear how much this bothered him.

Drusilla met his gaze and said firmly, "I don't like him."

Enoch was taken aback, searching her face. "Really?"

"I don't like Serge. It's you I like," Drusilla confessed, her voice carrying a weight of sincerity.

Enoch looked at her, a flicker of surprise crossing his features.

Drusilla hadn't planned on confessing her feelings, but seeing Enoch so dejected, she felt compelled to reassure him. She cared about him too much to see him this way.

And, in truth, he wasn't as bad as she had made him out to be.

While Enoch was still reeling from her confession, Drusilla quietly approached and began to push his wheelchair. "Let's go back."

He had originally come home for acupuncture, which was the main priority. Nothing was more important than that.

Drusilla pushed Enoch back to their house.

Since Enoch's accident had left him wheelchair-bound, the Taylor family had made every nook and cranny of their home accessible, facilitating his daily movements.

Verena turned to Lilith, indifferent. "Why should I care about any of that?"

Lilith was on the verge of a breakdown. She couldn't make heads or tails of Verena. Hadn't she been desperate to marry into the family before?

Downstairs, after finishing Enoch's acupuncture, Drusilla told him, "You should rest a bit."

Enoch nodded. "Yeah."

Drusilla stepped out, sending Verena a message to come upstairs. Soon after, Verena appeared.

Drusilla confronted her in Colton and Cormac's room, "Why did you have to say those things to Enoch?"

Those words were unnecessarily harsh.

Verena replied, "He had it coming! Why should you care about such a man? If he drowns in his drink, so be it! I must've been blind to hope you'd end up with him."
