"Act like I'm dying to marry you or something!" Verena exclaimed, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "I really misjudged you before!"
Back then, she'd even tried to set Drusilla up with Enoch. Now, she regretted it more than anything.
Facing Enoch, she snapped, "What are you even worth? Just because you've got a bit of cash? At the end of the day, you're just a disabled guy in a wheelchair. What's the big deal about marrying you? To be at your beck and call?"
"What did you say?" Enoch's face turned dark with anger.
"Yeah, you heard me. Disabled. Did I stutter? Whoever marries you is jinxed for life!" Verena didn't hold back, defending Drusilla with fierce loyalty.
Enoch's expression darkened further, his grip on the wheelchair's armrest tightening, his knuckles turning white. He realized that this was how everyone saw him.
No wonder Drusilla wasn't fond of him either...
Verena's words hit him where it hurt the most.
He retorted, "Wow, Ms. Garner, aren't you bold!"
To openly insult him like this? She was the first!
Verena shot back, "Did my words sting? I'm just stating the facts! In our circles, someone like you, Mr. Taylor, would be considered a lost cause. No chance of finding a wife!"
Lilith and Drusilla arrived together, with Lilith trying to stop Drusilla but to no avail. Eventually, she figured they might as well hear what Enoch and Verena were talking about.
If Drusilla overheard Enoch and Verena getting along, it might even be a good thing.
But as they approached, they caught Verena calling Enoch disabled!
"Verena!" Drusilla exclaimed, shocked. She hadn't expected Verena to confront Enoch so boldly, just to insult him.
Was she out of her mind? Or did she no longer care about her job?
