After a busy morning out and about, Colton and Cormac came back drenched in sweat. They were eager to see Drusilla and barged in without a second thought.
As soon as they reached the living room, they saw Drusilla coming downstairs. She had already heard their chatter from upstairs.
Oberon greeted her, "Madam."
Drusilla asked, "Is Enoch back?"
"Yes." Oberon felt a bit guilty. If Drusilla found out Mr. Taylor was with Verena, she'd probably be upset, right?
Lilith, on the other hand, seemed almost too eager to spill the beans, "Uncle Enoch is with Verena right now! Honestly, I think Verena, with her sweetness, is just his type. As for some people, well, that's a different story!"
Drusilla thought too highly of herself! If Enoch showed her just a hint of interest, she’d think she could set up her own shop.
Thinking about this, Lilith couldn’t help but roll her eyes at Drusilla.
Drusilla glanced at Lilith and walked out without a word. She was curious about what Enoch and Verena could be discussing alone.
As she stepped outside, she saw Verena and Enoch in the gazebo from a distance. Drusilla was about to approach when Lilith stopped her.
"Aunt Drusilla, they're having a private conversation. Let's not intrude. Look at you, getting all jealous," Lilith chided.
Drusilla shrugged off Lilith's hand, saying, "I'm his wife. Shouldn't I be concerned if he's chatting with another woman?"
She didn’t feel the need to explain her reasoning to Lilith.
Hearing this, Verena was furious. She had come prepared to give him a piece of her mind, but he beat her to it.
"Yeah, I'm such an irresponsible mother, aren’t I? And you, as a father, are doing such a great job! You dare to complain about Colton? Colton is smart and you dare to find fault in him! Enoch, you’re unbelievable! If that’s how it’s going to be, I might as well take Colton and Cormac back with me! You don’t deserve to be called their dad."
Enoch looked at her, "You think that's possible?"
"Why wouldn’t it be? A man like you, who did nothing to help bring these kids into the world, now acts as if we owe you something! What's the use of struggling to give birth to your children if you can’t even remember their mother?"
Thinking about how he treated Drusilla made Verena even angrier. If Enoch couldn’t support Drusilla, then she was bound to face endless difficulties in the Taylor family.
Enoch, mistaking Verena's anger for personal grievance, scoffed, "You were the one who refused the money before. What now? You’ve come to the Taylor family hoping to marry me? Sorry, but I’ll never marry you."
