Drusilla and Enoch retreated to their own room.
Once inside the bedroom, Drusilla closed the door behind them and when Enoch asked, "That Verena, what's her beef with Harlan?"
Drusilla paused for a moment before turning to face Enoch, "Why would you ask me about her? I don't keep tabs on everyone's quarrels."
Even if she did know, it wasn't something she'd share with Enoch.
"I just noticed you've been quite chummy with her, thought you might know something," Enoch remarked.
"I don't know anything," Drusilla replied, taking a seat on the edge of the bed, feigning ignorance.
Enoch eyed her and then said, "Do you think she's got a screw loose or something? She seems to have a go at everyone!"
Initially, Enoch thought Verena's hostility was targeted solely at him, but seeing her lash out at Harlan too somehow made him feel a bit better about the whole situation.
Drusilla couldn't help but smile slightly, "I wouldn't say that. Maybe she just has a good judge of character and can spot the good eggs from the bad ones. I get along fine with her. She seems alright to me."
"So, what? You're saying I'm one of the bad eggs?" Enoch wasn't quite satisfied with her explanation.
Drusilla coughed slightly. "Maybe she's just not thrilled about how you've been treating Colton."
That made Enoch think. He remembered bad-mouthing Colton during one of his conversations with Verena. So, was that why Verena was on his case?
Seeing Enoch agree with her words, Drusilla asked, "Are you heading to work now?"
He looked up, his gaze landing on her face, and suddenly chuckled, "Why, going to miss me?"
Drusilla rolled her eyes, forcing a small laugh, "Why would I miss you? If anything, it's a chore having to put up with your mood swings!"
"Here, take this." Enoch, in a good mood, handed her a credit card.
Drusilla accepted it, puzzled. "What's this for?"
