Drusilla looked at him in surprise.
Enoch began, "If you'd asked me before, I would've agreed with you. But now... I don't think so anymore!"
"Why?" Drusilla was puzzled.
"I have you now, and you have me. Are you missing the kids? If so, I can have Oberon swing by your place to pick them up. They should be off school today, right? I told you before, you should bring them over."
Drusilla paused, momentarily taken aback. Without Enoch mentioning it, she had nearly forgotten the fib about her kids being with her dad.
"No... That won’t be necessary... I was just thinking about Colton and Cormac."
Enoch gave her a look, saying, "Alright then."
He couldn't fathom her sometimes. But since it was her request, Enoch had Colton and Cormac called over!
Soon after, Colton and Cormac arrived.
"Mom." Colton and Cormac approached Drusilla, and seeing her, Colton took Drusilla's hand and asked, "Are you sick?"
She didn't look so well!
Cormac looked at Drusilla with concern too.
Enoch watched the two boys, a trace of satisfaction in his eyes. Drusilla's usual kindness to them wasn't in vain; they showed some decency.
Drusilla said to Enoch, "Enoch, could you... step out for a bit? I want to spend some time alone with the kids."
His presence made it awkward for her to talk to the boys.
Hearing her, Enoch said, "Then I'll leave."
He felt somewhat redundant but respected her wishes, especially since she wasn't feeling well, and left the room.
The two kids stayed in the room with Drusilla.
Cormac asked, "Mom, are you sick? Does it hurt? Should we go to the hospital?"
Drusilla replied, "No, I just need some rest."
