"..." Harlan stared at her, incredulously. "You really think I'd believe that?"
"Believe it or not!" Drusilla retorted with a smirk and turned on her heel, leaving Harlan standing there, dumbfounded.
By the time she got back to the conference room, the meeting had already wrapped up.
Enoch was still sitting there, not having moved an inch, while Oberon lingered by the door.
Drusilla approached them, asking, "What, it's not over yet?"
"It's done."
She peeked inside and then turned to Oberon, "So, what's Enoch still doing in there? He hasn’t come out yet!"
Oberon replied, "Mr. Taylor's waiting for you."
Hearing this, Drusilla walked in to find Enoch sitting in his wheelchair, the room now empty and echoing with their presence.
She moved closer, asking, "Lost in thought?"
Enoch looked up at her, irritation flickering across his face, "Where were you?"
"Just took a bathroom break," Drusilla answered. "What, I'm not allowed to now?"
His gaze darkened as he watched her.
Standing behind him, Drusilla began massaging his shoulders, her hands skilled from her acupuncture training.
They fell into a comfortable silence, only broken when Enoch reached up, catching her fingers, "That's enough."
Drusilla admired his hands for a moment, thinking she'd never seen such elegant male hands before.
Breaking the silence, she asked, "I heard you reassigned Harlan's project to someone else, told him to go home and be with Lilith."
Enoch confirmed, "So, you heard."
"Not just me, pretty much everyone here knows."
Such news always spread like wildfire.
Enoch explained, "Lilith's pregnant, needs someone around. I did it for his own good."
Even in front of Drusilla, he maintained his stoic demeanor.
Drusilla eyed him skeptically, "I almost believed you there."
