Twins - The Unforeseen Legacy of My Ex's Uncle-in-Law novel Chapter 283

Scrolling through his Twitter feed, the comments from his buddies left him speechless. "Dude, Mr. Taylor, when did you become such a narcissist? Posting selfies now?"

"Hold up, who took this pic for you?"

Oberon glanced at these remarks, then sneakily eyed his own Mr. Taylor. Even if you're flaunting your love life, spare a thought for your dog's feelings, will you?

After all, he was right there in the car.

Soon, they were home.

The car pulled up at the driveway, and Drusilla got out first, waiting for Enoch.

Harlan had also just arrived.

He parked his car nearby and, stepping out, saw Drusilla with a complex expression. Then Lilith appeared, walking up to him, "Hey, honey."

She affectionately took Harlan's arm, and though he acknowledged her, he couldn't muster even a sliver of a smile.

Drusilla couldn't help but chuckle!

It was just too funny.

Originally, Harlan was over the moon about Lilith's pregnancy.

But now, this very baby had become a weapon for Enoch to tease him with.

Thinking about how all his work had been reassigned, it was doubtful Harlan would find anything amusing.

"What's wrong, not happy?" Lilith asked.

She had been home all day, cheerfully informed by Saskia about Drusilla's expulsion.

Even without knowing why Drusilla was kicked out, Lilith was pleased with the outcome.

Seeing Harlan looking so down, she comforted him, "Cheer up, I've got something to tell you."

"What is it?" Harlan inquired.

"Just that…" Lilith was about to spill the beans about Drusilla's ordeal when she noticed her standing in front of the car, staring at her and Harlan.

She knew Harlan had been swamped with work and appreciated his willingness to stay home, making her very happy.

Yet, she wasn't that selfish, "Mom's here with me, and I'm happy. You don't have to! I'd rather see my hubby at work, doing what he loves."

But her words didn't bring any joy to Harlan.

His expression remained grave.

Lilith blinked, "Honey?"

Harlan said, "Don't have to anymore. Uncle said, now that you're pregnant, I should stay home with you. He's handed everything over to Derek. There's nothing left for me."

Lilith was stunned, "How can he do that? Weren't you busy with the carnival event? That too given to Derek?"

Harlan said, "I'm just tired, don't wanna talk about it."

His mood had plummeted.

Almost instinctively, he reached for a cigarette, then remembered Lilith’s pregnancy and his own rule of never smoking around her, and reluctantly refrained.
