Twins - The Unforeseen Legacy of My Ex's Uncle-in-Law novel Chapter 285

She was on the verge of tears!

Blythe, in the middle of coaxing her grandkids to eat their lunch, noticed her approach. "Lilith, darling, could you give me a hand here? Look at Colton and Cormac, they haven't had a bite since breakfast. If they keep this up, they're going to starve themselves sick."

Lilith glanced at the two boys but couldn't muster the energy to deal with them.

She was too overwhelmed with her own troubles, "I need to talk to you about something."

"What is it?" Blythe asked, spoon-feeding Cormac some mac and cheese, her attention hardly on Lilith.

"It's about Harlan."

"Harlan? What could possibly be the issue with Harlan?" Blythe's interest waned even further upon hearing his name, especially after Harlan's rendezvous with Drusilla the night before, which was still an unresolved issue in her mind.

"Uncle went too far this time, you have no idea. He actually handed over Harlan's project at the firm to Derek! How can he target Harlan like that? It's completely unfair!"

Blythe, trying to shift her focus to Colton, said, "Colton, sweetie, have a bite."

"Grandma!" Lilith's patience was wearing thin. "Are you even listening?"

"Enough already!" Blythe shot her a frustrated look. "Every day it's Harlan this, Harlan that. Your Uncle makes his decisions for a reason. Maybe it's good for Harlan to have some time off work and be with you. It's just a minor issue, no need to bother me with it."

In her eyes, only matters concerning Colton and Cormac were of any real importance.

Lilith knew Blythe usually had a temperate disposition, and being the only granddaughter among her grandchildren, she was generally treated quite well.

But now, to be scolded like this was unexpected.

Lilith froze, feeling wronged.

Blythe, catching a glimpse of her expression and remembering her pregnancy, realized she might have been too harsh. "Harlan's not a child; let him handle his own matters. You don't have to fight all his battles. Just focus on taking care of yourself for now."

Silenced by the reprimand, Lilith took a seat quietly, not daring to talk back, her gaze shifting back to Colton and Cormac.

No matter how Blythe tried to coax them, the little rascals wouldn't budge.

Enoch couldn't help but compare her to Drusilla, thinking how much more competent Drusilla was in these matters. "I can't believe there's someone like you out there."

...

Upon entering the dining room, Enoch found Blythe at her wit's end with the boys.

Seeing him, she exclaimed, "Oh, Enoch, thank goodness you're here. Please, try and get them to eat."

Enoch assessed the two defiant little guys, commenting, "What's this? Since when do you not know how to eat on your own?"

Colton, noticing him, huffed through his nose and looked away.

Enoch was at a loss.

Cormac, too, remained silent, his head bowed, sitting to the side.

Enoch then asked, "Cormac, why aren't you eating? Didn't you say you wanted to eat so you could grow big and strong?"
