“When you were away, your sister stepped in to marry on your behalf. Enoch’s fiancée has always been you. You had your mom talk me up quite a bit because you wanted to marry Enoch. I always thought you two were a good match. Now that you're part of the Lawson family, taking our name, you can't just back out of your promises. Your engagement to Enoch still stands, and you should honor it by marrying him. What do you think?”
Odette’s face stiffened slightly.
Not only was Enoch insistent, but now her father too?
But then again… Drusilla is his biological daughter!
He always favored her!
He couldn’t bear to let Drusilla marry out, yet he was pushing her?
Biting her lip, Odette said, “Dad, look, my sister and Enoch are actually getting along really well now. They’re married. There’s no need for me to marry him too, right? I don’t think my sister would be pleased, would she?”
Her gaze shifted to Drusilla.
Drusilla had married into the Taylor family, and she must be happy about it!
Odette had given up such a great opportunity for her; gratitude was the least she expected.
Drusilla could tell Odette was using her as an excuse.
Was it really for her benefit?
Had Enoch been his usual self, not confined to a wheelchair, Odette wouldn't have hesitated because of any feelings for Enoch.
Drusilla spoke up, “No worries, I’m willing! After all, I married him on your behalf initially. Honestly, dad is right. You should join the Taylor family; it’s your responsibility.”
Both sisters fell silent.
The man in the wheelchair looked furious, his gaze shifting between Odette and Drusilla, “So this is what I’ve come to? A burden you’re both trying to offload?”
The fact that the sisters were arguing over this matter was astonishing to him.
In the past, countless women would have jumped at the chance to marry him, Enoch.
Reflecting on this, his gaze turned icy, particularly when he looked at Drusilla.
Drusilla paused, sensing something in his look that suggested he was hurt.
Turning to him, she said softly, “Enoch…”
