Hestia rushed out of the kitchen at the sound of the doorbell, her face lighting up with a forced smile when she saw it was Enoch and Oberon. "Drusilla, dear, you could've given us a heads-up that Enoch was coming over. Now, we're totally unprepared."
Though she said this, panic was secretly gnawing at her.
Odette had just gotten back, and here was Enoch, showing up on their doorstep!
It was clear he hadn't given up on her daughter!
Hestia regretted letting Odette come home so soon.
But Odette had been having a rough time out there, and Hestia thought it best to bring her back.
They'd hoped to keep it a secret from the Taylor family, but somehow, they'd been on their radar all along.
And here she thought having Drusilla stand in for Odette would solve everything.
Seeing Enoch, Odette also managed a placating smile. "Enoch, long time no see. How have you been?"
Although she wasn't keen on marrying Enoch, she knew he was someone she couldn't afford to offend right now.
Enoch looked at her coldly. "What do you think?"
Asking how he was as if nothing had happened.
Odette continued, "It must be going well, right? Mom mentioned you and my sister are quite the item now. Look, we're practically family. Let's just let bygones be bygones, shall we?"
Even though Odette wasn't Leander's biological daughter, she knew that the future of the Lawson family was crucial to her and her mother's well-being.
If the Lawson family went bankrupt, she had no idea what would become of them.
So, this mattered a great deal to her.
