Drusilla was dumbstruck by Enoch's words. He'd actually dared to say she was no different from Odette.

Lips pursed, she asked, "Is that really what you think of me?"

"What else?" Enoch replied. "The moment she came back, weren't you just itching to clear the air between us? Do I repel you that much? Well, Odette's return does mark the end of our deal. We can get divorced now!"

The word 'divorce' hit Drusilla like a ton of bricks. She looked into the man's eyes, finding them as cold and intimidating as a winter frost.

Trying to reach out to Enoch, she hesitated.

"Was it true, when you said you liked me?" she asked.

Just that morning, he had whispered those words, asking her to stay by his side.

"Of course it was a lie!" Enoch snapped.

Her voice was faint, but Verena caught the added, "I thought it wouldn't hurt, but it does. I thought after leaving Harlan Stanton, I wouldn't fall for someone else... yet, here I am... He was kind to me, so I fell for him... Even though I shouldn't have, I did!"

Tears streamed down Drusilla's face as she remembered Enoch's cold declaration in the car: "Of course it was a lie!"
