Standing up, Odette faced him, “Fine, I'm leaving!”

“You here to see Enoch?” Odette asked, stopping in her tracks.

“That’s none of your business,” Drusilla retorted.

“I’m stressed, but what can I do? I’m not about to gamble away my happiness for life.” Odette selfishly finished, then looked at Drusilla, “Anyway, you figure out the family stuff. I know my sister can handle it, right?”

“Odette, after all this time with Enoch, you feel nothing for him?” Drusilla was genuinely curious.

Odette seemed so indifferent, as if afraid of any connection to Enoch.

“What’s feeling got to do with it? Get real. He’s paralyzed, stuck in a wheelchair. I’d have to care for him forever, be his lifelong nursemaid. Doesn’t that just make you sick? I’m not as noble as you.”

“One day, you’ll regret this,” Drusilla said, knowing something Odette didn’t – Enoch could recover. She was curious to see how Odette would react when Enoch would stand on his own two feet.

Odette, hearing Drusilla’s prediction of regret, smirked, “I never regret my decisions, don’t worry!”

With that, she turned and left.

Drusilla, hearing Odette’s parting words, shook her head and went in to see Enoch.
