"But what if we go bankrupt?" Hestia fretted, "Drusilla said she’s washing her hands off this mess! Go talk to Enoch, will you? Just tide him over for now, and I'll figure something out with your sister later. It’s not like we’re actually going to marry you off, okay?"
Odette frowned and reluctantly agreed, "Alright then."
She didn't want to marry Enoch, but she also couldn't stand the thought of her family going under.
After a moment's thought, she decided it was best to meet Enoch in person.
"By the way, Lilith, do you know where your Uncle Enoch might be?" Odette asked Lilith after hanging up the phone.
Lilith's face lit up, "You're going to see my Uncle Enoch?"
She had invited Odette over with the hope of getting her to meet Uncle Enoch, thinking it might bridge the gap between them and perhaps mend old wounds.
"I need to discuss something with him."
"Great! I'll take you to him!" Lilith eagerly led Odette to Enoch, and on the way, she said, "Do you know why I asked you over?"
"Why?" Odette asked, puzzled.
Wasn’t it to see some celebrity?
Lilith revealed, "My Uncle Enoch is getting a divorce."
Odette was taken aback, "Just like that? He decides to divorce?"
"He's not been in good health, and everyone’s been tiptoeing around him, so obviously, they'll listen to him. Honestly, I think Uncle Enoch still has feelings for you. The moment he heard you were back, he immediately wanted to divorce Drusilla. You two have known each other for so long, there must be some feelings there! Odette, maybe you should really think this over?"
Odette remained silent, her face stoic. She wasn't foolish; she could see Lilith was trying to play matchmaker between her and Enoch.
Ha, Enoch put her up to this, didn’t he?
Is he still not over it?
"..." Enoch replied, "If you have something to say, say it. I'm busy."
Odette found his demeanor somewhat amusing.
She tried to soften her tone, "I heard you want the Lawson family to go under. The bank's been pressuring my dad to repay loans, and the deals we had lined up are falling through."
"And what," Enoch interjected, "does the Taylor family’s affairs have to do with me?"
Odette pleaded, "Isn’t this because of me? Enoch, please stop. It’s been two years. Why keep holding onto this, making things difficult for me? You married my sister, so please, just focus on her and leave me be."
"..." Enoch was taken aback by her words.
Him, fixated on her?
Odette continued, "Even if you’ve held onto your feelings for me, wanting me to marry you, I can't. I’m already in love with someone else! Besides, we've had our time. And, I'm carrying his child. There's no chance for us!"
