Twins - The Unforeseen Legacy of My Ex's Uncle-in-Law novel Chapter 35

Harlan didn't expect Enoch to lose his cool like that. He quickly tried to smooth things over, "No, I didn't mean it that way. I was just looking out for Wendell."

Lilith chimed in as well, "Enoch, Harlan didn't do it on purpose. He cares about Wendell too. Please, don't be mad at him."

Lilith was really worried Enoch would hold a grudge against Harlan.

Hearing Lilith’s appeal, Enoch finally calmed down a bit.

After getting an earful from Enoch, Harlan was in a foul mood. It just proved that even after marrying Lilith, life in the Taylor family wasn't going to be easy. Aside from Lilith, it seemed like no one else really liked him. And having to constantly tiptoe around Enoch, who was now wheelchair-bound, didn't make things any better.

He quickly finished his meal and stepped outside for a smoke.

Drusilla, sitting quietly at the side, couldn't help but feel a sudden surge of happiness seeing Harlan, who was so bold and brash in front of everyone else, turn into a timid mouse in front of Enoch.

After Harlan left, Wendell looked up from his meal and asked Blythe, who was sitting across from Enoch and Drusilla, "When's their wedding?"

Blythe replied, "I'm already on it. It’ll be arranged as soon as possible."

"Better hurry," Wendell urged, clearly impatient.

"I got it," Blythe assured.

She glanced at Enoch and Drusilla, knowing that since they were already legally married, it was indeed time to start planning the actual ceremony.

Drusilla caught Blythe’s look and paused, thinking that although Blythe mentioned organizing a wedding, she had assumed it was just talk. But judging by Blythe's response, it seemed she really intended to go through with it.

After breakfast, helping Wendell to his room for the night, Drusilla and Enoch went to his room for her to perform his acupuncture treatment.

During the session, she hesitated. "Your mom isn’t actually planning a wedding for us, is she?"

"Back out?" Enoch looked at her, "We’re already legally married. Why did you agree to it in the first place if you’re going to talk about backing out now?"

"Because…" Drusilla tried to explain, "I thought if we got married, and the news reached Odette, she would come back. How was I to know there would be an actual wedding? Maybe you can talk to them, and delay it a bit? That way we might not have to go through with the ceremony. What do you think?"

Enoch countered, "Based on what you just said, I think the wedding should happen sooner rather than later. Odette will only believe we’re truly married if she sees the wedding."

Drusilla felt a headache coming on. "Why are you adding to the chaos? Do you know how much work goes into a wedding? You think it’s that easy? I don’t have the time for this!"

She’d been through a wedding before and knew how exhausting it could be; she wasn’t eager to experience that all over again.

"Then from now on, dedicate your time to me."

"You think I'm like you?" Drusilla retorted, "Someone's always there to take care of you, not having to worry about daily needs. I have two kids to look after. Aside from your acupuncture, I need to work to support them. I’m busy, you know."
