Aveline was taken aback, [I don’t even have that photo, how could I post it online?]
Fiona: [Exactly. They’re insane.]
[I’ll bring the agreement for you to sign tomorrow. Get rid of this man quickly.]
Aveline: [Yeah, okay. Bring it to the studio for me to sign.]
Then, Aveline stood in the dim hallway, her chest aching.
What right did Xavier have to suspect she was the one who posted that photo online?
She clenched her fists and turned to go back to the bedroom.
Just then, her phone buzzed with a new message. She thought it was from Fiona, but a glance revealed it was from Xavier.
[Is Valentina asleep?]
It was so late, of course she was asleep. What was Xavier playing at, asking something so obvious?
Testing her?
Aveline scoffed silently, didn’t reply, and went into the bedroom to sleep.
She didn’t know if it was the unfamiliar bed or if what happened had put Aveline in a bad mood, but she lay in bed, unable to sleep; even though she thought she was over Xavier, a relationship of several years had probably left a hid- den sore spot.
She finally drifted off to sleep without realizing it, completely exhausted.
The area around Parkview Estates was lovely, and Aveline was woken up by birds that had flown to her windowsill to chirp.
But she didn’t want to open her eyes, and then she felt a body roll over behind her, pressing not just against her back but also draping an arm over her waist.
At first, Aveline thought it was Valentina, but it didn’t feel right; it was an adult’s body, radiating heat.
Aveline opened her eyes, turned slowly to look, and saw Xavier’s handsome, sleeping face.
Aveline frowned and pushed him, trying to get up, but Xavier, whether consciously or not, just held her tighter.
Pressed so close together, Aveline could clearly feel his morning erection.
Her face flushed, and feeling angry, she started pushing and kicking him with both her hands and feet.

Xavier rolled to the side and opened his eyes, his dark, sleepy eyes gazing at her deeply as he said in a low voice,
“Couldn’t you be a little gentler?”
Aveline quickly got out of bed and glared at him coldly. “Why are you here?
Where’s Valentina?”
Xavier sat up. “What do you mean?
This isn’t my bedroom anymore?”
Aveline sneered, “Xavier, are you kidding me? Once we’re divorced, this house is mine.”
Xavier laughed. “Here we go again.
We’re not divorced yet.”
With that, he got out of bed and walked toward the bathroom.
Aveline stared at his back, almost letting a curse slip out.
Just then, the bedroom door opened, and Valentina ran in. “Auntie, you’re awake.
Auntie, can I have Braised Beef Noodle Soup for breakfast?”
Aveline suppressed her anger and looked at Valentina. “You’re up so early?
Why didn’t you wake me up?”
Valentina looked up at her. “I got up at six–thirty. Uncle told me not to wake you.”
Aveline glanced at the wall clock. It was already seven–thirty. She patted Valentina’s head,
“Have you brushed your teeth?”
“Yeah, Helena helped me brush them, and I washed my face too.”
“Okay, you go wait downstairs for a bit. I’ll make you some Braised Beef Noodle Soup after I wash up.”
Aveline glanced at the bathroom.
Xavier was inside, so she’d have to use another room to wash up.
She grabbed a new toothbrush and towel, left the bedroom, and went to another room.
After washing up, Aveline returned to the master bedroom to put on lotion. She heard Xavier walk out of the bath- room but didn’t turn around.
His footsteps drew closer, stopping beside her, and she could feel the imposing presence of his tall frame.
“Do you have something to tell me?”

Aveline’s hand paused as she was applying lotion. She remembered what Fiona had said last night–that Xavier sus- pected her of posting the photo of him and Josephine online.
Aveline turned to give him a cold look, only to see him with just a bath towel around his waist, water from his wet hair dripping down his firm abs.
She shifted her cold gaze upward to meet his calm, deep eyes and retorted, “What could I possibly have to say to you?”
Xavier gave her a deep look, then smiled and picked up the towel from around his neck to dry his hair. “If there’s nothing, then forget it.”

When is the novel ending? It’s so unnecessarily long… not a single intimacy or connection just fighting and bickering from the beginning to end...
