Having said the most important thing, she ignored him and walked away.
Xavier, for his part, knew when to back off, silently following behind her without bothering her further.
When they reached the door of their private dining room, the door to the one next to it opened, and Leona walked out. Seeing Aveline, she scolded her,
“Aveline, why did you bully Josie?”
Aveline opened the door to her private dining room, walked in, and shut it in Leona’s face.
Leona was so angry she gritted her teeth, turning to Xavier and saying, “She called Josie a retard. Josie is crying.”
Xavier frowned slightly.
Leona knew he felt bad for her and said, “Hurry up and go comfort her.”
With that, she pulled Xavier into the private dining room.
After lunch, Aveline, Julian, Jessica, and Carl were saying their goodbyes at the restaurant entrance when Xavier, Josephine, and the others came out too.
Aveline didn’t notice them at first, but as she glanced over, she saw Josephine catch her eye and immediately cling to Xavier’s arm, a look of fear on her face.
Xavier’s expression was indifferent, but Eileen, Vincent, Gerald, and Leona glared at her unkindly.
Aveline thought these people were crazy and coolly looked away.
Leona was infuriated by Aveline’s attitude. “Aveline, don’t you think you should apologize?”
Aveline ignored her and told Julian it was time to get in the car.
Julian asked, “Why did Leona tell you to apologize?”
Aveline said flatly, “Who knows what’s wrong with her.”
Hearing this, Julian couldn’t help but smile. “Xavier’s older sister really does have… a bad temper.”
Aveline glanced at him, thinking he probably wanted to agree with her that Leona was crazy.
Aveline also thought there was something wrong with Leona’s head, because Josephine’s little act to win sympathy was just so childish.
Aveline was quiet, so Julian quickly changed the subject. “If Mr. Harmon is also happy with the design plan, we’ll be heading to The Mountainous Resort to start work next week. I wonder when the will let us go take a look at that

theme park.”
Aveline answered him, “They’re both on Mount Ardwood, so it’s convenient. We can work on the Crestmark’s project while we figure out the design for the theme park.”
Julian laughed. “You’re the smart one. Juggling two things at once is easy for you. Jasmine and I will just follow you and get rich.”
Aveline smiled, “Julian, you’ve always been so modest. If you and Jasmine weren’t so talented, I wouldn’t have started this business with you.
Let’s work hard and really build something big. I hope our company’s brand will be known internationally one day.”
The light turned red, and Julian stopped the car. He turned to look at Aveline intently. “You’re really starting to have the air of a powerful businesswoman.”
Aveline gave a slight smile. “It’s better to be a powerful woman. The rewards are visible and tangible–they’re real.”
When Julian heard Aveline say that, he gave her a deep look. Aveline had to remind him the light was green before he awkwardly looked away and started driving.
Back at the studio, Aveline gave Jasmine the pastries she had packed for her.
Jasmine happily hugged Aveline, thanking her. Then she sat down and started eating, gushing about how delicious it
was.
Julian said, “I don’t know how authentic their Southern River–style Cuisine is, but it’s really good. We should take Jasmine there for our next get–together.”
Aveline nodded and agreed.
Then she thought that maybe they should go to that Southern River–style Cuisine restaurant for the dinner with her maternal grandparents and Rupert on Saturday. The flavors weren’t too strong, which would be perfect for the elderly.
She planned to tell Xavier after work.
Unexpectedly, she got a text from Xavier that afternoon. “The Patriarch wants you to pick the restaurant. Prioritize your maternal grandparents‘ tastes.”
Rupert had always been considerate of her and her maternal grandparents. It was a shame she was divorcing Xavier; she wouldn’t be able to feel his care anymore.
Aveline replied: “That Southern River–style Cuisine place.”
Xavier quickly replied with one word: “Fine.”
In the evening, Aveline returned to Parkview Estates. Helena came out of the kitchen and said, “Ma’am, Sir was back for a bit, but he’s left.”
Aveline gave a faint “Mm,” and told Helena to just make a simple home–cooked meal for dinner. She didn’t ask why Xavier had come back and went straight upstairs.

When is the novel ending? It’s so unnecessarily long… not a single intimacy or connection just fighting and bickering from the beginning to end...
