Chapter 139
However, after a moment’s thought, her hand unconsciously drifted to her abdomen and she frowned, because her pe- riod hadn’t come.
After a moment, Aveline told herself not to overthink it; her period was sometimes irregular when she was stressed or exhausted.
She shook her head and went to take a shower.
After her shower, while Aveline was drying her hair, there was a knock on the door.
Thinking it was Helena, she turned off the hairdryer and walked to the door, smoothing her hair as she went.
Xavier was at the door, holding a cherry blossom branch. His dark eyes watched her calmly as he offered it to her,
“Brought you a flower.”
Aveline’s expression turned cold, and she tried to shut the door without a word.
Xavier stopped the door with his other hand and said with a smile, “It’s not from me. Valentina picked it out. She had me hold her so she could snap it off the branch herself for you.”
Aveline didn’t believe his bullshit and pushed hard on the door, but she was no match for a tall, strong man like
Xavier.
Xavier said, “It’s really from Valentina. Ask her if you don’t believe me.
If you don’t take it, she’ll be sad.”
Aveline scoffed. “Of course it’s from Valentina. It’s not like the sun rose in the west, so there’s no way you’d ever bring me flowers.”
With that, she took the cherry blossom branch. “Can I close the door now?”
Xavier smiled back. “If you want me to bring you flowers, just say the word. I will.”
Aveline thought he was talking crap. “Let go,” she said coldly.
Did Xavier think she was shameless enough to actually ask him for flowers?
Xavier looked down at her. His hand left the door, but then reached for her face.
Startled, Aveline instinctively pulled back. “What are you doing?”
Xavier replied, “What do you think I’m doing? Why are you so scared?
You have a hair on your lip.”

Chapter 139
Aveline glared at him, casually rubbing her lips with her hand and pulling off a strand of hair.
“So what if there’s a hair on my lip? What’s it to you?”
With that, she shut the door.

Xavier’s dark eyes narrowed, becoming as deep as an old well. He stared at the closed door for a moment before turn- ing and walking away.
Inside the room, Aveline’s heart was still pounding. Xavier’s sudden move toward her face had truly frightened her.
What had she just thought he was going to do?
She didn’t dare dwell on it. Shaking her head, she told herself there was no way she thought he was about to touch her face.
As far as Aveline could remember, Xavier never normally touched her face. He only did when they were… intimate.
Although Xavier had no feelings for her, he would still touch her, just not often.
On the night they got their marriage certificate, Lauren had specifically instructed them, saying she’d had a Fortune Teller pick the date.
If Xavier had never touched her, she might hot have fantasized about him, thinking he had some feelings for her.
Aveline shook her head again, telling herself not to think about the past anymore.
She had been so foolish before, wasting years of affection on a man who wasn’t worth it.
She looked at the cherry blossom in her hand. If Valentina really did pick it, then the child had great taste. It was a beautiful branch.
There was an antique vase in the master bedroom that her mother had bought. It sat beneath an oil painting of a spring landscape that her mother had painted. She placed the cherry blossom branch into the vase.
Stepping back, the painting and the cherry blossom blended together beautifully. The faint floral scent was like the spring scenery itself had drifted into the bedroom like a ghost.
Aveline picked up her phone, wanting to text Valentina to thank her. But when she saw the time, she realized it was Valentina’s bedtime, so she put her phone down, planning to contact her tomorrow.
Just then, her phone buzzed. Aveline picked it up and saw it was a text from Valentina.
[Auntie, did Uncle give you that cherry blossom branch?】
Aveline quickly replied: 【He did. I heard you picked it. It’s very beautiful, and Auntie loves it.】
【Why aren’t you asleep yet?】
Valentina: 【I wanted to text you earlier, but Mom said you guys were out for dinner and told me not to bother you.]

The readers' comments on the novel: Urging Him to Get a Divorce (Aveline and Xavier)
When is the novel ending? It’s so unnecessarily long… not a single intimacy or connection just fighting and bickering from the beginning to end...
