Chapter 15
Jasmine smiled, holding out a box. “Here, take this. Share it with your friends if you want.
Valentina shook her head. “I can’t eat too much. Just one, please. Thank you, Jasmine.”

Jasmine admired how polite and self–restrained Valentina was at such a young age. She opened the box and let Valentina pick one.
Valentina thanked her again, clutching the cupcake.
Aveline stroked Valentina’s head. “I’m going back to my room now. Enjoy the party, okay?”
“Good night, Aveline.”
Valentina waved, then ran back toward the garden.
Aveline watched her disappear into the party crowd before she and Jasmine walked into the hotel lobby.
Valentina took a bite of the cupcake. Its sweetness made her grin.
She spotted Xavier not far away, holding a wine glass and looking toward the hotel lobby, so she ran over to him.
“Xavier. This is the cupcake Aveline gave me. It’s so delicious.”
Xavier pulled his gaze away from the lobby, looked down at Valentina, and smiled as he stroked her hair, “Really? That’s wonderful.”

“Tina, you little fool. You’ve been tricked again. Xavier hired this hotel’s chef for a lot of money. How could Aveline’s cooking be as good as his?”
Mason walked over with a scowl, his voice sharp.
Josephine walked over with Mason. When she caught Xavier’s eye, her previously gloomy face instantly brightened into a sweet smile.
“You haven’t even tasted Aveline’s bakery. How do you know it’s not good?”
Valentina shot back, turning her head away from Mason.
Josephine let out a soft laugh and gently pinched Valentina’s cheek. “Don’t be angry, Tina. You’re family. You have to get along well. You can’t be like…”
Her voice trailed off, as if she’d stopped herself from saying something. She then turned to Xavier and gave an awkward smile.
Aveline and Jasmine had two cupcakes each, leaving three leftover, and they planned to send those to Julian.
Knowing he’d already returned to the hotel, Aveline picked up the cupcakes and walked out of Julian’s room.
At the far end of the hallway, Xavier and Josephine were walking toward her.
This was the 16th floor. Xavier wouldn’t normally stay here.
But he’d already given his presidential suite to Leona and Brielle, and since he wanted to stay with Josephine, he’d have to reserve a room on this floor instead.
When he could be with the woman he loved, trivial things like “lucky numbers” no longer mattered.
Aveline glanced at them, then looked away and pressed Julian’s doorbell.
Xavier was on a call. He walked over to Aveline and said into the phone, “Then tell her.”
He then held the phone out to Aveline. “My mom wants to talk to you.”
Out of the corner of her eye, Aveline noticed the phone, yet her face stayed icy. She simply ignored him.
The door opened. Julian was startled when he saw not just Aveline, but also Xavier and Josephine standing outside.

Chapter 15
Xavier glanced at Julian, then turned back to Aveline and called her name, “Aveline.”
Aveline walked straight into the room and shut the door behind her.
Josephine raised an eyebrow, watching Xavier closely to see his reaction.

Xavier looked slightly stunned. He stared at the closed door, his expression hardening a little.
Josephine had expected him to get angry and maybe even kick the door. But instead, he suddenly seemed amused. He smiled, lifting the phone back to his ear.
Josephine felt a flicker of satisfaction, a small smile tugging at her lips.
Even if Xavier had no feelings for Aveline, she was still his wife. Josephine figured he ought to have gotten angry after Aveline went into another man’s room.
The fact that he hadn’t proved he didn’t care about her at all.
On the other side of the door, Aveline heard Xavier’s voice from outside, “Forget it. Cancel it for now. We’ll rebook later.”
A pause, then, “Yeah, sort of.”
After that, his voice faded. A moment later, there was the sound of another door closing. He and Josephine must have gone into their room.
Aveline frowned slightly. She guessed Xavier must have told Lauren they wanted a divorce, but Lauren had refused. That was why he tried to get Lauren to talk her out of it.
Lauren’s refusal made sense. After all, Aveline had once saved Xavier’s life, and both Lauren and Rupert saw her as his “lucky star.”
Even if Xavier had no feelings for Aveline, Lauren and Rupert would rather he stay tied to her for life, treating her like a decoration.
“Aveline, are you okay?”
Julian’s voice pulled Aveline back to her senses.
She hurriedly looked up to find Julian standing in front of her, his gaze deep.
She tucked a strand of hair behind her car awkwardly, then held out the cupcakes. “Here, Julian. These are really good.”
Julian took them. “Thanks. You

When is the novel ending? It’s so unnecessarily long… not a single intimacy or connection just fighting and bickering from the beginning to end...
