Chapter 156
Julian and Jasmine exchanged a look. Julian asked, “Should we follow them?”
Jasmine frowned. “Xavier won’t give Aveline a hard time in there, will he?”
“Julian, you wait here. I’ll go in.”
Aveline was looking at stomach medicine when Xavier approached her. “You can’t just take random medicine before you get a check–up.”
Besides the stomach medicine, Aveline had also wanted to buy a pregnancy test, but with Xavier right there, she couldn’t.
After all, in the private dining room in a traditional restaurant last night, she’d already said she had tested a few times. If she bought a pregnancy test now, it would give her away.
She picked up a box of stomach medicine she’d taken before and turned to leave.
Xavier grabbed her arm. “Taking unprescribed medicine is dangerous, you know that?”
Aveline looked back at him coldly. “You’re just afraid I’m actually pregnant, aren’t you?”
“Heh, and even if I were pregnant and lost it because I took some random medicine, shouldn’t you be happy about that?”
Xavier’s dark eyes instantly turned cold. He spun her around to face him and said in a low voice, “What nonsense are you talking about?”
Aveline said coldly, “Are you going to get violent with me in here?”
Xavier’s dark eyes were deep and intense. “If you weren’t sick, I wouldn’t even bother with you.”
Just then, Jasmine walked over. “Xavier, what are you doing? Let her go, or I’m calling the police.”
Without even glancing at Jasmine, Xavier said to Aveline, “We’re going to the hospital.”
Aveline replied coldly, “I’m not going.”
Xavier laughed. “You’re tough. I lose.”
Aveline thought he was about to let her go. He did release her arm, but then he suddenly swept her up into his arms.
“What are you doing?”
Jasmine was stunned speechless for a moment. After all, you couldn’t really call what Xavier was doing a violent act.
Carrying Aveline, Xavier walked out of the convenience store. “To the hospital.”

The convenience store employee just stared in astonishment, not moving a muscle.
Aveline struggled. “Put me down, or I’ll scream.”

Xavier said calmly, “Let’s get one thing straight. I’m taking my wife to the hospital. Scream for help, call the police, no one is going to think I’m in the wrong.”
“If you keep struggling, I’ll just hold you tighter. Or we can both fall on the lobby floor and make a scene for every- one. Your choice.”
Julian was stunned when he saw Xavier walk out of the convenience store carrying Aveline. He looked over at Jas- mine, who was following behind them.
Jasmine frowned and shook her head, helpless.
She walked over to Julian and said, “Xavier insisted on taking Aveline to the hospital.”
“Legally, he’s still Aveline’s husband. I can’t just fight him for her.”
Aveline said, “Put me down. I can walk on my own.”
Xavier replied, “I don’t trust you.”
In the hotel lobby, many people turned to look at them.
If Aveline still had feelings for Xavier, she would have felt shy and sweet, but now she only felt annoyed and humili- ated.
The driver, Amy, was stunned for a moment when she saw Xavier carrying Aveline out, then quickly opened the back door.
Xavier placed Aveline inside the car.
Aveline scrambled toward the other car door, trying to open it and get out.
But Xavier got in right after her, wrapped an arm around her, and said to the driver, “Lock the doors.”
The driver naturally listened to Xavier, getting in and quickly locking the doors.
Xavier ordered him, “To the convalescent home.”
Aveline’s face was cold. She stopped struggling and just sneered, “Xavier, is there any point to this?
Once we’re at the convalescent home, I won’t cooperate with the examination. What are you going to do about it then?”
Xavier let go of her and looked down at her, his dark eyes deep and inscrutable, but he didn’t speak.
Aveline met his gaze, a chill in her eyes.
Xavier said flatly, “Find a place to park on the side of the road, then you get out.”

Chapter 156
He was speaking to the driver, so the driver found a place to park, stopped the car, and then got out.
Aveline watched Xavier coolly, waiting to see what he would do.
Xavier’s eyes were dark and deep. He stared at her for a few seconds. “You know, you’re being very strange.”
Aveline said coolly, “How so?”
Ha, just because I’m not fawning over him anymore, now I’m strange.

When is the novel ending? It’s so unnecessarily long… not a single intimacy or connection just fighting and bickering from the beginning to end...
