Aveline glanced at Jasmine in the mirror.

Jasmine gave a wry smile, “If you are pregnant and you take that medicine, it could be really bad.”

Aveline took the paper towel Jasmine handed her and dried her hands, “If my period doesn’t come in a few days, I’ll go to the hospital.”

“So you’re not taking the stomach medicine, right?”

Aveline smiled, “Whether I want a baby or not, I still value my life.”

If she really were pregnant and didn’t want the baby, she would definitely go to the hospital to handle it, not just take random medicine and harm her own body.

She put the two pregnancy tests in her purse, “Let’s go, don’t worry. I’m just a little nauseous, it’s nothing serious.”

Back in the office, Julian brought coffee for Aveline and Jasmine.

Aveline glanced at it, thought for a moment, and said, “Thanks, Julian, but I’m not feeling well. I’ll skip the coffee. Boiled water is fine.”

Julian was surprised and looked at Jasmine, “Why don’t you take Aveline to the hospital?”

“Aveline, if you’re not feeling well, you should go get checked out. I’ve got things here. If anything comes up that needs you, I’ll call you right away.”

Aveline gave a faint smile and handed her coffee to Jasmine, “You drink it.”

Jasmine nodded, “Okay, I’ll drink it.

Julian, it’s fine. If Aveline really can’t take it, I’ll definitely bring her to the hospital.”

Julian glanced at Aveline’s face, and seeing she looked fine, he left for work, relieved.

Around noon, Aveline packed up her things, planning to go back to the hotel with Jasmine and Julian for lunch and a

rest.

Xavier called.

She didn’t answer and put her phone in her purse.

On the way back to the hotel, Xavier texted her, [Did you buy a pregnancy test and check?]

Aveline stared at the message coldly and didn’t reply.

Back at the hotel, Aveline couldn’t really cat lunch, barely finishing half a bowl of light Shredded Pork Noodle Soup.

Jasmine and Julian both looked at her worriedly.

Jasmine knew the reason, but Julian didn’t and thought she was sick. Aveline said,

“Julian, don’t worry. I just don’t have an appetite.”

Julian nodded, “You’re probably just exhausted. Go back to your room and get some good rest. It’s okay if you don’t go to the site this afternoon.”

Aveline returned to her room, went into the bathroom, and dry–heaved over the sink for a while, but still couldn’t throw anything up.

She sighed, lay down on the bed, stared at the ceiling while rubbing her stomach, and wondered if she should go buy a few more pregnancy tests to check again.

Her hand moved down to her abdomen. She felt a faint bloating, like her period was about to start.

She decided to stop thinking about it. She would go to the hospital in a few days.

Her phone rang. Aveline sat up and saw it was Fiona.

She answered, and Fiona said, “I cornered Gerald and asked him. He said Xavier never told him to get the agreement done in three days. He also said that getting a stake in the isn’t that easy, so being anxious is useless. You should ei- ther give up or sign the original agreement.”

Aveline frowned. “I already signed the original agreement.”

Fiona was furious. “Exactly! That’s what I told him. I’m so pissed.”

Just then, the doorbell rang. Aveline glanced at the door, thinking it might be Jasmine, so she said to Fiona:

“I’ll talk to Xavier again.”

Fiona replied, “Hmph, if he wants to drag it out, let him. He’s the one in a hurry to be with the other woman, not you.”

Aveline gave a faint smile. “Yeah,” she said. “I’m hanging up, I have to get the door.”

“Okay, I’ll come see you at Mount Ardwood this weekend.”

After hanging up, Aveline put down her phone, got out of bed, and went to open the door.

When she opened the door, it was Xavier.
