It was hard to tell if he was angry. He just gave Aveline a deep look, then turned and left without a word.

Aveline slammed the door shut with a “click” and locked it, afraid Xavier would come in again for no reason.

Lately, he’d been acting crazy. His behavior was too strange, as if he actually cared about her.

Hearing the noise, he looked up at her. “All washed up?”

Aveline ignored him and walked past coldly.

Xavier didn’t say anything more and walked into the bathroom.

Aveline remembered there was only one toothbrush and one cup inside, so she quickly turned back. Sure enough, she saw Xavier had already picked up that toothbrush.

She immediately yelled at him, “Why are you taking my toothbrush? Even if you’re not grossed out, I am.” Xavier turned to look at her. “There’s only one toothbrush. What’s there to be grossed out about? We’re married.” “The moment I asked for a divorce, we stopped being husband and wife. All that’s left is the paperwork.” Xavier smiled. “I used this toothbrush last night, and you just used it too. So, tell me, can I use it now or not?”

Aveline didn’t know if he was telling the truth or not, but there really was only one toothbrush in the bathroom. If he had brushed his teeth last night, he must have used it.

Aveline bit her lip in anger. “Xavier, you’re sick.”

Xavier was definitely trying to provoke her on purpose.

Her purse was hanging in the closet.

She took it out and pulled her phone from the purse.

The calls were from Fiona and Miranda. Since Aveline didn’t answer, they had sent messages.

Fiona: [I heard from Jasmine that you were tripped by Eileen. I’m in Kralville right now, and all the flights are booked. I’ll rush back tomorrow morning.]

Aveline replied to her, [I’m fine now. If you have things to do in Kralville, take care of them first. Don’t rush back.] Miranda: [The Heiress, Miss called specifically to tell me you fell. Are you okay?]
