Xavier came in too, closed the sliding glass door, and drew the curtains.
Aveline didn’t even glance at him, grabbing a change of clothes to go shower.
Xavier said calmly, “So your head really isn’t dizzy anymore? Don’t pass out in the bathroom.”
Was this guy trying to jinx her?
Aveline ignored him and went into the bathroom.
Since her head wasn’t dizzy anymore, Aveline couldn’t help but wash her hair, because it had started to get a little itchy.
When she came out of the bathroom, Xavier was on the sofa on his phone. Seeing her, he said softly,
“I’m hanging up.
Yeah, good night.”
Aveline grabbed the hair dryer and started drying her hair, not looking at him.
Xavier said calmly, “You washed your hair, too. You’re really something else.”
Aveline said coldly, “You know, there’s something wrong with you. Go ask a nurse to get you your own room.”
He never cared about her before, and now he’s pretending to. If that’s not sick, what is?
And his words of fake concern were laced with sarcasm.
If he wasn’t going to be sincere, he might as well just shut up.
Xavier just smiled nonchalantly. “Why waste the money? We’re both sick. Sharing a room is perfect.”
With that, he went into the bathroom.
Aveline, her face cold, finished drying her hair, then turned off the main light, leaving only a night light on before getting into bed.
She didn’t fall asleep right away. She heard Xavier come out of the bathroom. His footsteps were clear at first, then they suddenly softened.
Aveline frowned slightly, fighting the urge to look up and see what Xavier was doing.
She didn’t hear him unfolding the sofa bed, but then she heard his footsteps approaching.
Aveline tensed up, and then she felt Xavier get into the bed, bringing the scent of his body wash with him.

Xavier, however, lay down and said calmly, “Getting into bed to sleep. Or if you have something else in mind, I’m up for that too.”
Aveline lifted her foot to kick him. “Go sleep on the sofa.”
Xavier was like a heavy stone; she couldn’t move him. Instead, he propped himself up with one hand, wrapped his other arm around her chest, and pushed her back down onto the bed.
“Don’t mess around. Let’s sleep. I’ve had a long day.”
Aveline struggled to get up, but Xavier’s hand was still on her chest. When he applied pressure, she couldn’t fight back. She yelled angrily,
“If you’re not going to sleep on the sofa, then don’t sleep at all.”
Xavier said flatly, “The sofa’s not comfortable.”
“That’s not my problem. If you want to sleep in a bed, go back to the hotel or get another hospital room.”
As she spoke, Aveline kicked at Xavier.
Xavier extended his leg to lock hers, then pushed himself up and rolled over, hovering above her, his dark, gloomy eyes staring down at her.
“Aveline, you have so much energy. Why don’t we do something to burn it off so you can get to sleep?”
As he said this, a faint smile played on his lips. “The Patriarch is eager to hold a great–grandchild.”
In the dim light, Aveline felt his smile was mocking. Her eyes turned frosty, and she raised her foot to kick him in the stomach.
Xavier reacted quickly, as if he had expected this move, and grabbed her calf with one hand. He said coldly:
“Are you having fun?
We’re husband and wife. What’s wrong with sleeping in the same bed?”
Aveline tried to pull her leg back, but Xavier didn’t let go. She said coldly, “Who’s playing with you?
Who wants to sleep in the same bed with you?
Let go. Get off.”
Xavier pressed closer, his dark eyes staring intently at her wide almond eyes. “If you don’t sleep in the same bed with me, who will you sleep with?”
Aveline glared back at him, not showing any weakness. “None of your business.”
Xavier’s face moved closer again. The familiar male scent enveloped her, and seeing that he was about to kiss her, she instinctively cried out,

When is the novel ending? It’s so unnecessarily long… not a single intimacy or connection just fighting and bickering from the beginning to end...
