Urging Him to Get a Divorce (Aveline and Xavier) novel Chapter 220

Chapter 220

The driver saw everything but remained silent, not daring to ask anything.

After all, Mr. Beltran and his wife were on the verge of divorce.

Xavier told the driver, Back to Parkview Estates.

His phone rang. It was Gerald calling. He answered.

Damn it, Xavier, the detention order is out. The police confirmed Vincent started the fight, so he has to be detained as punishment.

Xavier said calmly, Then let him stay inside for a few days to learn his lesson. He needs to stop hitting women.

Xavier, you can’t be serious, can you?

Josie’s a wreck, she’s been crying so much. You’d feel terrible if you saw her.

If it’s not a good time for you, maybe I should go and find

It’s only fourteen days in detention, not like he’s being sent to prison.

That’s final.

With that, Xavier hung up.

At the local police precinct, Gerald looked miserable as Xavier hung up on him, unsure of what to tell Josie.

Seeing his expression, Josie quickly asked, What happened? What did my darling say?

Eileen also looked at Gerald, her expression a mix of hope and anxiety.

Gerald sighed. Vincent getting violent really crossed a line for Xavier. He thinks a few days in lockup will teach him a lesson, so he’s not willing to pull any strings.

Eileen’s face fell. She gave Josie a shove. Josie, you have to get my brother out of here, or else

It was a warning.

Josie glared at her. Don’t threaten me. Do you really think you can?

Eileen pressed her lips together, saying nothing, but her eyes were full of defiance.

Gerald frowned. Eileen, Josie has been trying to help. It’s not like she doesn’t want to save your brother. How can you say that to her?

Eileen just snorted and looked away.

Fiona was on the phone with Aveline, telling her the good news, while keeping an eye on the commotion. Then she said:

Hah, they’re out of options. Now they’re just fighting with each other.

Aveline asked curiously, Xavier didn’t help?

Fiona replied, Doesn’t look like it. I was wondering the same thing. Why didn’t he help his precious darling this time?

Aveline thought for a moment, then she understood why.

Xavier can’t stand men who hit women. That must be why he didn’t help Vincent.

Besides, he’d be embarrassed to use his power or pull strings for something like this.

Aveline remembered something Brielle had told her at the home, back when she and Xavier had just gotten engaged: as a child, Xavier had seen the get drunk and slap Lauren, which is why he despises men who hit women.

Fiona snorted. Then how come he has no problem mistreating his own wife while being so nice to another woman?

Aveline was quiet for a moment. Fiona, thank you for all your help. Go home and get some rest.

Fiona yawned, Yeah, I’m heading home now. Remember we have dinner with Mr. Jenkins tomorrow night.

I’ve been looking forward to meeting Mr. Jenkins. There’s no way I’d forget.

I’m just trying to figure out what gift to bring him.

Fiona replied, Don’t bring anything too expensive for a first meeting. Mr. Jenkins likes tea, so just get him some nice tea.

Aveline had been stressing about that, so when she heard what Fiona said, she replied happily, Okay, I got it.

Fiona hung up the phone and saw that Josephine and the others were already gone.

She grabbed her handbag from the chair and walked out of the local police precinct.

She couldn’t see her assistant and was about to call out for her, when Katie appeared from between two cars, looking all mysterious.

Fiona laughed. As Katie walked over, she teased, Don’t tell me you were taking a piss back there. What if one of the cars drove away? You’d have been totally exposed.

Katie pouted, Fiona, if you’re going to make fun of me, then I’m not telling you the secret I just overheard.

Fiona walked toward the car. Who’s stupid enough to spill secrets in front of a police precinct, and let a paralegal like you overhear them?

Katie scoffed, Well, there are people that stupid. Two of them, actually.

After getting in the car, Fiona saw Katie hop into the passenger seat and smiled. Alright, spill it. What’s the secret? If

it’s good, I’ll give you a raise next month.

Katie grinned. Oh, Fiona, you’re definitely going to want to give me this raise.
