Leona sensed something was wrong and studied Xavier. “Xavier, what’s going on?”

As she spoke, she looked toward the driver, hoping he would give her a hint

Josephine saw Xavier ignoring Leona, sipping his wine and picking at his food with his fork, so she quickly nudged Leona,

“Leona, let’s sit down and order something to eat first.”

Amy gave Eileen a strange look.

The owner came over and said, “We don’t have menus here.”

Eileen froze, feeling awkward.

Josie had told her to lie and say she’d been to this little restaurant before, then bring Leona over to “run into” Xavier, but she never expected it to be a place without menus.

Josie knew Eileen’s cover was blown and quickly tried to save the situation. “Oh, if there’s no menu, how do we order?”

The owner replied, “They’re all regulars. They basically know what I have.”

“You’re new customers, so I’ll tell you about a few of my dishes.”

Then the owner listed a few dishes.

Eileen immediately picked a few of those dishes, saying she had tried them last time and thought they were good.

She added that she had only been here once before and didn’t remember they had no menus.

The three of them didn’t take another table but sat at the one with Xavier and Amy. Because the restaurant’s tables were small, it felt a bit crowded.

Xavier frowned slightly but didn’t tell them to move to another table.

Leona saw him with his head down, just drinking and eating without a word. Seeing Josie staring at him with a worried expression, she comforted her,

“He’s probably just tired from work and had a few too many drinks.”

Amy glanced at Leona but said nothing

Mr Beltran wasn’t tired from work, he’d had a fight with his wife Leona was his older sister, but she didn’t understand Mr Beltran at all

But Amy wasn’t surprised, because she knew Leona couldn’t stand Aveline.

The owner brought the dishes, one of which was Herbal Root Salad. Eileen didn’t know what it was, but the name sounded exotic, so she thought it would be tasty and ordered it.
