Chapter 319
“Where did that photo come from? Why would Aveline think I gave that painting to Josephine?”
“Fine. I’ll send them all to you, so you can’t deny it.”
With that, Fiona sent Xavier the screenshots from Marjorie’s Social Feed.
Xavier went upstairs. He wasn’t in a hurry to look, first going into his study to open the cardboard box, take a picture of the painting, and send it to Fiona,
“The painting is still in my study.”
Then he looked at the screenshots Fiona had sent.
Xavier asked Fiona, “Whose Social Feed is this? It’s definitely not Josephine’s.”
But Fiona shot back, “Are you sure this photo wasn’t taken a while ago?”
Xavier got annoyed. “You want me to video call you so you can see for yourself?”
“I’m asking you, whose Social Feed is this?”
Fiona snapped back, “It’s Marjorie’s. She works for Josephine. Didn’t you see her post? Josephine showed her the painting, and she took a picture to show off on her Social Feed.”
Xavier said, “My older sister took that photo.”
Fiona replied, “Whatever you say.”
With that, she hung up.
Thinking about how Leona had gone into his study without permission to take that photo and caused all this trouble, Xavier got so angry he slammed his phone on the table.
Then, with a grim expression, he paced around the study, trying to piece together what had happened.
He needed to tell Aveline the painting was still in his possession, but before that, he had to figure out why Marjorie would post something like that on her Social Feed.
Xavier walked to his desk, picked up his phone, and called Leona. “I need to ask you, did you

take that painting from my study to show Josephine?”

Leona was getting ready for bed and was already a bit surprised by his call. Hearing what he said, she was even more stunned.
“What are you talking about? I only took a picture, I didn’t take the painting out.
“How did Josie get involved in this?”
Xavier hung up. He thought for a moment, then texted Josephine,
What’s with that post Marjorie put on her Social Feed?
Josephine was in her living room with Courtney, watching TV, but she couldn’t focus on it at all.
She was anxiously wondering if Aveline had found out about Marjorie’s post, how she would react, whether she’d just be angry by herself or go and confront Xavier.
When she saw the text from Xavier, Josephine jumped in her seat. “Mom, I got a text from Xavier.”
Courtney glanced over and patted Josephine’s shoulder. “Don’t be nervous. Don’t be scared. Just handle it the way we planned.”
Josephine nodded.
Courtney then instructed her, “Don’t text back. Call him directly.”
Josephine nodded again and called Xavier.
Xavier was in his study waiting for Josephine to reply when Lauren pushed the door open. “Xavier, why aren’t you coming down for dinner? The food’s getting cold.”
Just then, Josephine called. Xavier waved at Lauren, motioning for her to leave, and then answered the phone. “Hello, Josephine…”
Hearing the name, Lauren froze, her eyes narrowing as she stared at Xavier.
Seeing she was still there, Xavier said impatiently, “I know, I’ll be down in a bit. Just heat it it gets cold.”
Lauren left, filled with unease and suspicion.
On the other end, Josephine asked, “Xav, what’s wrong?”
“It’s nothing, I was just talking to my mom.”

Josephine’s eyes flickered. “Oh, I didn’t know she’d posted something like that. I just saw it and
asked her about it.”
“Actually, it’s a misunderstanding. I had a script meeting today, and we were talking about set design. Someone suggested renting some paintings, so I showed the team this photo.”
“Marjorie thought the painting was beautiful, so she posted it on her Social Feed.”
Xavier said coldly, “Then what were her post and the comments about?”
Josephine’s voice immediately sounded a little weak. “I’m sorry, Xav, Marjorie misunderstood what I said.”
“Marjorie thought the painting was mine, that you spent hundreds of millions to buy it for me. She didn’t know I just showed her a photo; I don’t actually have the painting.”
Xavier was furious. The word “Damn it” rose in his throat, but he held it back and didn’t say it.
He wouldn’t hit a woman, and he wouldn’t swear at one either.
After swallowing his words, Xavier said coldly, “Tell Marjorie to delete it. Then post a public clarification statement saying she’s spouting nonsense and that it’s not true.”

When is the novel ending? It’s so unnecessarily long… not a single intimacy or connection just fighting and bickering from the beginning to end...
