Gerald threw up his hands. “You won’t let me handle your divorce case, you’re having Ruth do it. I certainly wouldn’t dare compare myself to Ruth.”

“But I’m afraid Ruth will be too soft–hearted. Plus, the Patriarch is biased, and he’ll let Aveline take more of the assets.”

Xavier said coldly, “Who said I’m filing for divorce?”

Gerald was surprised. “Then why did you ask Ruth to help you?”

Xavier didn’t want to deal with him and stood up to go to his desk. “You’ve been here long enough. It’s time for you to go.”

“And I’m warning you, don’t go around telling everyone that Aveline and I are getting a divorce.”

Gerald stood up too. “Hey, you still haven’t agreed to have dinner with me and Josie tonight.”

Xavier replied, “From now on, when you and Josie get together, you don’t have to call me.”

“Why? Are you mad at Josie because of what Marjorie posted on her Social Feed?”

“That wasn’t Josie’s fault. She was pissed too and told Marjorie off.”

Once he got to his car in the parking lot, Gerald quickly called Josephine.

“Xavier won’t have dinner with us.

Josephine was startled and quickly asked, “And what?”

Gerald said cautiously, “Josie, I think Xavier’s been in a bad mood lately because of Aveline. Don’t overthink it.”

“He said not to call him anymore when the two of us get together.”

Josephine gasped, “Is Xav mad at me?”

Gerald comforted her, “Didn’t I just tell you not to overthink it?”

“Don’t worry. After a while, once Xavier and Aveline get divorced, you two can be together.”

Josephine immediately asked, “Is Xav really getting a divorce?”

“He warned me not to go around telling everyone. I guess he doesn’t want the whole city to

know.”

“I don’t know what he and Noah have planned. Let’s keep it a secret for now. They’re going to get divorced sooner or later anyway.”

“Just wait for the good news.”

“Figure out where you want to eat tonight. We’ll talk more then.”

Fiona and her assistant, Katie, returned to the Beltran Hotel and successfully copied the surveillance footage.

Once in the car, Fiona immediately called Aveline, “Aveline, I can’t believe Xavier actually let me copy the footage.”

Aveline was in the middle of lunch. As soon as she heard Fiona say she’d gotten a copy of the hotel’s surveillance footage from February 18th, she quickly said:

1 700 Wouchers Fiona sighed, “Aveline, based on the surveillance footage from February 18th alone, it can’t be used as proof that Xavier is cheating.”

“The video is too long. I’ll have Katie edit it into segments and send it to you. I’ll tell you which clip to watch first.”

“But Katie and I will take the copy back and look at it carefully again to see if we missed anything. And Xavier also promised to show me the whole year’s worth, so we can check that later.”

Aveline replied, “Alright, send it to me.”

After hanging up, Fiona saw Katie in the driver’s seat, looking like she wanted to say something but was hesitating. She asked, “What’s wrong?”

Katie said, “Fiona, Mr. Beltran is so brazenly letting us see the surveillance footage, yet you and Aveline are so sure he’s cheating.”

Fiona said decisively, “He’s definitely cheating.”

Katie gave a helpless smile, thinking Fiona was just blindly siding with Aveline and being emotional, but she said:

“Is it possible that Mr. Beltran meets other women at other hotels, not his own?”

Fiona sighed, “I’m not an idiot. Of course I’ve thought about that. Aveline must have thought about it too.”

“But we just haven’t caught him red–handed.

We don’t even know which hotel it is, so how can we investigate?”

“For now, let’s just check the Beltran Hotel first.”
