It rang for a long time, but Xavier didn’t answer.
Josephine was so angry she gritted her teeth, but after a moment, she comforted herself. This time he didn’t hang up on her, so he probably just didn’t hear his phone ring.
Maybe he’s in a meeting or something.
She called Gerald, who answered quickly. “Josie.”
“Gerald, I’m not interrupting your work, am I?”
“It’s fine, go ahead.”
“I heard Xav went to Singapore on a business trip.”
“Oh, I haven’t been in touch with him, so I didn’t know.”
“My cousin told me.
I just called Xav, and he didn’t answer, but this time he showed some mercy and didn’t hang up immediately.”
As she spoke, Josephine let out a laugh, as if mocking herself.
Gerald heard this and felt terrible, silently cursing Xavier for being so cold and heartless.
But he still comforted Josephine, “He’s probably busy.”
“Gerald, my dad’s birthday is coming up, and I’ve set my sights on a painting by an artist in Singapore that I want to give him. Can you contact Xav and ask him to buy it for me from Singapore?”
“Sure, no problem. Xavier told me that he’d buy you anything you want.”
“I’ll send you the picture then. I’m counting on you.”
After hanging up, Josephine sent Gerald a picture of the painting she had picked out earlier, telling him which gallery it was in.
The painting was worth over ten million. She planned to test whether Xavier really didn’t care about her anymore.
If he still cared about her, he would definitely buy it for her.
As soon as Gerald received the picture, he immediately called Xavier.
Xavier hadn’t answered Josie’s call earlier. He just silenced it, put his phone in a drawer, and continued the meeting with his manager.

So when Gerald’s call came in, he heard the vibration and ignored it as well.

Gerald had no choice but to text him, [Josie wants to buy a painting for her dad’s birthday. You’re in Singapore, so buy it and bring it back for her.]
Then he sent over a picture of the painting and the gallery’s address.
Xavier read the message after his meeting, tapping his fingers on the desk and thinking about what to get for Aveline.
If he texted to ask her, she definitely still wouldn’t reply.
He called Ryan over, sent him the picture of the painting, and told him to go buy it at the gallery that afternoon.
Her phone didn’t make another sound after that, and Aveline didn’t check it until her lunch break, when she finally took it out for a look.
Right after those two messages, Xavier had sent another one:
[If you withdraw the divorce petition, I’ll have Dylan transferred. Deal?]
Aveline read it, a mocking smile touching her lips.
So Xavier put Dylan on the project team just to bargain with her?
She forwarded the message to Fiona, [This guy doesn’t seem to want a divorce right now. I don’t know if it’s because the Patriarch is putting too much pressure on him.]
Fiona called Aveline. “Have you eaten yet?”
Aveline ansluttidi
“Yeah, I’ve eaten. I’m in my hotel room now.”
Fiona said, “There you are, living it up at the Beltran Hotel, while I’m stuck eating takeout in my office at the firm.”
“Well, architects have it better than lawyers.”
Aveline laughed. “That’s just because I was lucky enough to get the Crestmark project. That’s why I’m getting treated so well.”
“Right. And right after that is the project, so you’ll get to keep staying in fancy hotels.”
“Aveline, I know what you’re worried about. You’re afraid Xavier will pull some tricks behind your back and cause trouble with the court.”
“It can’t be helped. The husband you married has that kind of power. If he wants to drag this out, he really can. The only question is how long he wants to do it.”
“He’s probably just trying to sweet–talk you, to placate you so you’ll wait quietly until the day he’s ready for a di- vorce.”
“But I have my own connections, too. I’ll do my best to sort things out with the court for
Aveline knew Fiona was right and sighed. “Then I’m counting on you.”

Chapter 357
After hanging up, Aveline lay on her bed, staring at the ceiling, lost in thought.
Just how many years did Xavier intend to drag this on?
She was twenty–three. Surely Xavier wouldn’t drag this out until she was thirty.

When is the novel ending? It’s so unnecessarily long… not a single intimacy or connection just fighting and bickering from the beginning to end...
